Hello Community,
The SVSU Sailing Team is trying to build its fleet. At the beginning of this year, the team was composed of new sailors. As we started to compete this fall, we struggled with getting all of our participants on the water. With an additional boat, we hope to expand our sailors' skills and knowledge.

With the collegiate sailing ending, SVSU Sailing Teams wants to thank the community for their support. This winter, we started to form a team that was able to compete in MCSA Regattas. Thank you, BCYC Sailing and Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association, for opening up your facility to allow us to practice. Without your help, we wouldn't be able to meet our new friends from Hope College Sailing Team and Western Michigan Sailing Team! Also, a big thanks to Award & Sports for our awesome sailing pinnies!!!

Thank you Western Michigan Sailing Team for hosting an amazing regatta. We learned so much and met some great sailors!

SATURDAY SPOTLIGHT - Did you know that SVSU has a club sailing team? This weekend, they compete in their first regatta as a member of the Midwest Collegiate Sailing Association. The “Boudeman Cup” regatta is hosted by WMU at the Gull Lake Country Club. Good luck to the four team members racing this weekend - Avie Krauss, Danielle Paten, Sarah Rozboril and Morgan Lovegrove.

SVSU Sailing Team would like to thank St. Joseph Junior Foundation for the opportunity to build our 420 sailboat fleet! This opportunity has allowed the team to compete against other colligate sailing teams this semester. Our first regatta is this October 16th at Gull Lake! We are so excited to be participating!!

This is a great way to support the Saginaw Bay Community Sailing Association! Their mission is to provide fun and safe sailing opportunities for adults and kids that have no prior experience. They also graciously allowed the SVSU Sailing Team to practice at their facility during the summer. Many of our SVSU Sailing members learned to sail with SBCSA Instructors. We like to give a BIG THANKS to SBCSA. Come and support our two organizations this week.

Our Drydock fundraiser is only 8 days away! Bring yourself, bring a friend, bring your family and come join us for this fun fall event 🍁

Our sailing community has grown so much this past summer and we’d love to use this time to celebrate that!

P.S. you can purchase some pretty cool sailing merch while you sip on some cider(s) too!

Tracy Edwards: What Can A Sailboat Teach You That A Classroom Can't?

When Tracy Edwards was expelled from school, she wound up working on boats. That led her to form a record-breaking all-female sailing crew, which circumnavigated the world in 1989.
