⛸️ FINAL WEEK BEFORE SUMMER🏒

This is the LAST week for Public Skate and Stick & Puck before we close for the summer! Our final day will be Thursday, so make sure you take advantage of these last noon Public Skates and after-school Stick & Puck sessions before the ice comes out.

Whether you’re getting in a few final laps, working on your shot, or just enjoying time at the rink with friends, we’d love to see everyone one more time this week!

Thank you to everyone who skated with us this season — we appreciate all of your support and can’t wait to welcome everyone back in the Fall for another great year at the rink.

From hockey practices and games to Learn to Skate and public skate — our rink has been full of memories, friendships, and fun all season long. Now it’s time to wrap it all up with one last BIG public skate before summer! 💙

🏆 2026 Fred Bowden Person of the Year Award 🏆

The Fred Bowden Award is presented annually to an individual who selflessly and consistently demonstrates dedication to advancing youth hockey in Saginaw — someone who goes above and beyond in service to our players, families, and organization.

This year, we are proud to recognize Rob DeSemplaire as our 2025-26 Fred Bowden Person of the Year.

Rob’s hockey journey with GSAHA began years ago when his child first entered our house program. Through the years, he experienced the growth of youth hockey all the way to the AAA level. Now, as an empty nester with no grandchildren yet old enough to lace up skates, Rob chose to come back to the rink simply to give back to the game and organization that meant so much to his family.

As our Mite Youth Coordinator, Rob has poured countless hours into helping our youngest players build a love for hockey. From preparing practice plans and coordinating with mite coaches to ensuring that fun and development remain at the center of the experience, Rob’s passion and commitment have made a lasting impact on our program.

His willingness to go above and beyond for the GSAHA — just like Fred Bowden himself — is what makes him so deserving of this honor.

Congratulations, Rob, and thank you for everything you do for GSAHA and the future of youth hockey in Saginaw! 💙🏒

We are proud to announce and CONGRATULATE Coach Jamie Furbush on being selected as the 2025–2026 Ken Schueler Coach of the Year Award recipient!

This award is presented by the Saginaw Valley Hockey Officials Association and selected by the officials who referee youth hockey games at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena.

Coach Furbush has dedicated 14 years to the Greater Saginaw Amateur Hockey Association, coaching at every level—from Atoms to Jr. Spirit to our tournament teams. This past season, he served as the head coach for our House Bantam team. His well-rounded experience has shaped him into a leader who remains cool, calm, and collected under pressure. Jamie carries himself with professionalism and integrity, holds his players accountable, and consistently turns challenges into teachable moments.

This award, named in honor of Ken Schueler, recognizes a coach who exemplifies integrity, respect, and level-headed leadership—values that Jamie demonstrates every time he steps behind the bench.

Congratulations, Coach Furbush! Thank you for your continued dedication to Saginaw hockey and for making a lasting impact on our players and community.
