What a day! Chris got the full western experience today, lots of ups and downs, but it ended in success! We spotted this buck in the afternoon and he gave us the slip, only to bed below some rocks which gave us the opportunity to get the upper hand. We were able to sneak in at 30 yards, Chris making a perfect shot, and the rest is as they say history!

Grandpa Bruce.. the man, the myth, the legend.. who worked his ass off providing for his family, beat cancer, and an aortic dissection among many other things.. who said he was done hunting 2 deer ago and still knocked one down at 74 years old. This man has set the bar real high, and I feel so blessed to have gotten the chance to watch him in action again this year.

One of the coolest things that has ever happened in my hunting career happened yesterday during a rifle mule deer hunt that quickly turned into a mountain lion hunt! My buddy glassed this cat up laying in a cave! His dad was the only one of us with a tag and we also knew that this was a bucket list animal for him so we gave him a call and he drove as fast as he could to our location. After a 5 hour wait and about a 1,000 ft vertical climb John was in position for a shot of a lifetime and he did not disappoint. One shot at 618 yards and the rest is as they say “history”.

I am beyond proud of my beautiful wife on graduating with her bachelors degree!!! I have watched her work hard day and night, up late with the kids and still doing her homework once everyone was in bed. Not only did she graduate with 4 kids and a full time job, she did it with a 3.84 gpa. I am just so happy to see what the future holds for this amazing woman. I love you forever babes

Was able to take a trip out east to Georgia for the first time to archery hunt whitetail thanks to my good friend Dale. I had the hopes that I was going to harvest a mature buck with my bow but I was quickly humbled and realized that it was not nearly as easy as I thought from what I had watched on tv all of those years growing up. I was able to hunt a week straight without spotting a single mature buck but I had a blast and learned a lot! I was still able to get some fishing done and harvested a doe to feed my family which to me is a winning experience. I feel super blessed to have been able to take this trip with my uncle Rob and aunt April, cause they are always game for these crazy adventures. And I also have to give some praise to my amazing and beautiful wife for letting me chase my dreams even when the idea is not the best or it means leaving her at home for a week with a newborn. Definitely a time I won’t forget.
