Today, April 1st marks my 20th year in business. I opened Reach Pilates in 2004 with guidance from Charlotte Addington Weikel who was my first Pilates mentor and Linda Marshall from the Safety Harbor Chamber. Stewart Davis was my first student at the studio. Linda Pindjak and Ginger Rogers Snyder, two of my earliest students still take lessons every week!
I’ve met many of you through the studio. You’ve been my students, attended workshops or events I’ve hosted, mentored me and commiserated with me over the ups and downs of studio ownership. I’m so grateful to each of you for allowing me to share the brilliant work of Joseph Pilates with you.
I opened in a small room with a Cadillac, a single reformer a Wunda chair and some yoga mats. Now I occupy a sunny 1,000 square foot studio full of equipment, much of it traditional, as my teaching evolved to embrace Classical Pilates. I weathered the recession and survived the pandemic. I’ve operated in the black every year since opening. So I’m feeling pretty proud today. And thankful.
I’m hosting celebration at the studio on Saturday, April 6th from 4-7. It’s a drop-in event and if you’d like to stop by you’re welcome.
