Progress.
It doesn’t happen overnight, that’s why it’s called just that.
Progress.
There’s some jam up athletes out there. Horses that hit the dirt running, literally, and winning.
And in the eyes of the “little guy” it can feel defeating. You can question every little thing you’ve done and wonder why your results don’t look like that. Wonder what they’re doing at home.
Compare, contrast, and repeat.
And think that maybe, just maybe, there’s that secret little trick that they’re doing.
The reality is this.
Every horse’s journey is different.
Some will hit the dirt and be an instant winner.
Some will need the time, the exposure, the slowly raised expectations to blossom into greatness.
And you know what?
There’s nothing wrong with that.
Because for 13 years ‘they’ spend 180 days preparing us for the real world. US.
The humans setting these expectations for these athletes. Some go off to college to further that education and get even more prepared while some hit the ground running in a trade.
So the next time you feel defeated, look for the progress. Know that the journey doesn’t define the end result.
We’re out here having fun 🫶🏻
Thankful to be back in the arena dirt, to have the opportunity to get a little lost on our first barrel, and to continue to make progress with a smooth second and third barrel, and a half second faster of a run 🖤
