"On a wing and a prayer" is a phrase originated during WWII. Occording to New York Daily News, the expression is a saying that people say when they want to emphasize how little chance of success something has, and that the person is relying and luck to be successful.
However, I think the following saying about "wings" defines my life:
Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall.
Ray Bradbury
(Usually, I describe myself as a “fly by the seat of my pants” kinda gal, but Bradbury puts it more eloquently.)
Another quote I like is
Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.
(Salvador Dali) I immediately thought of my dear friend when I heard this quote! And the fact that it was said by Dali, makes it even more fitting.
Here are some more of my favorite quotes; what are yours?
-Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings.
Victor Hugo
-Feet, what do I need you for when I have wings to fly?
Frida Kahlo
-No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings.
William Blake
-Your dreams are what define your individuality. They have the power to give you wings and make you fly high.
P. V. Sindhu
-The man who has no imagination has no wings.
Muhammad Ali
-If you were born without wings, do nothing to prevent them from growing.
Coco Chanel
