A little Moon update 🌙🤍
We’re officially in the countdown. Pre-op appointments are August 14 & 15, followed by Moon’s first surgery on August 18, a nearly 10-hour double mastectomy with the beginning stages of reconstruction.
From there, we wait for pathology from the mass + lymph nodes to tell us what comes next. She’ll spend the first few weeks healing in Sacramento before heading home to Templeton, with another reconstruction surgery likely in November or December.
We’ve been told to prepare for Moon to be out for the remainder of 2026, which, if you know her, might be one of the hardest parts of all. 🤍
That means some of the retreats and gatherings she had dreamed up for this fall, including Las Bravas, are being lovingly reimagined. We’re working on ways for The Summer Moon to continue offering connection, movement + a little wildness while she heals, even if those offerings look different for a season.
So many of you have already shown up in ways we’ll never forget. If you’ve been wondering how to help right now, please keep sharing Moon’s GoFundMe. Share it again. Send it to someone who loves her, loves The Summer Moon, or simply believes in taking care of people when life asks them to stop everything and heal. Donate if you’re able, but please know that sharing it matters deeply, too.
This is going to be a long road, and every bit of support is helping give Moon the space to focus on the one job in front of her: healing.
We’re holding onto the vision of our Moon girl back on a horse, back in the ocean, and back under the Summer Moon by spring. 🐎🌊🌙
Until then, we carry her. 🤍
