Hello all! When I first started this page it was just something to help get the word out about myself but who is behind AMR Swim? Let me go ahead and reintroduce myself. My name is Amanda and I've been swimming as long as I can remember. My house was always supplied with endless sunblock, towels, and goggles from a young age. My parents put my brother and I on our local competitive swim team when I was 6 years old and we continued until we were both 18 years old. I swam so much during the summers the chlorine would bleach my eyebrows to the point I looked like I didn't have any but I didn't care. I continued swimming into high school and joined the varsity swim team my freshman year. I would eventually become captain my junior year, helping new teammates who never swam before competitively and giving them support. As any high school swimmer does, they get a job as a lifeguard and swim instructor at their local pool. The Gora Aquatic Center in Galt is where I started realizing I loved teaching swim lessons, from parent-tots, to children, to adults, and everything in between. I would read swim lesson books they had in the main office during my breaks so I could teach more efficiently. Nothing made me feel so much happiness then to see someone achieve what they thought was impossible. After working for the Gora Aquatic Center for almost 5 years I left for a new job opportunity away from swimming. That year gap from swimming taught me so much insight in the world of business, customer service, and creating genuine connections with everyone around you. I loved the environment I was working but deeply missed working with children and families. My brother started working for a private swim school and reached out to me to see if I wanted to become a swim instructor. I agreed almost instantly and worked there with him for a little over two years. I was back in my element but something always felt off. I loved helping families and wanted to do so my way. Last year I started AMR Swim, AMR being my initials but that doesn't really show who I am. Thank you for letting me reintroduce myself and I hope to be able to help your families in the future.
