In Motion School of Dance

In Motion School of Dance In Motion School of Dance was founded in July 2000 and is entering Season 26! Come Grow With Us! Our staff qualifications are varied.

Students at In Motion will benefit from classes that focus on technique and vocabulary with progress reports for our Beginner Levels that help to keep an open line of communication with staff and parent. Our staff cares about every student and will work with families to be sure each dancer is placed properly and reaching their full potential. We have instructors on staff that have grown up in our

dance school, have college training in the dance/performing arts field, and professional dance experience. With a focus on fundamentals... we provide a fun and warm atmosphere for children and teens looking to learn the art of dance.

Wow... we've come to the end of the road. (Shout out to Boys II Men) 😉

The last IMSOD classes for Season 26 are upon us. Things to expect tonight: surprise dance practice, rehearsing the dances repeatedly, giggles, showing parents...

Senior send off in the Teen class tonight! I have some Purple and White cupcakes for my 2026 grads. 💜👩‍🎓

The car is getting packed already. I've brought home the Tap 1 hats to try to fix a couple of the strings and beads. I have some maracas I'm working on which will probably look like the Pre-K kids made them themselves. 🤣🤦‍♀️ The photo curtains are home to be steamed and Kyra has started to round a corner today! Hoping to have her Saturday for pictures!!🥳
Tomorrow the flooring gets rolled and transported as well as the music box. Hoping the weather cooperates for loading in and out and transporting.

Saturday - DRESS REHEARSAL!
Your time listed is your time ON STAGE so be sure to be ready! Pics can happen before and after for groups and individuals while we breeze through the day.

Sunday - SHOW DAY!!
Pre-K does NOT need to be there for warm-ups... just pass the squeeze.
Warm-up in your comfy clothes or surprise dance clothes.

Part of recital and performance prep is the PROCESS!

And it might be one of the most important parts and memorable parts. 💜

When you practice a LIVE art form, and with kids, it’s hard to know what will happen. No 2 runs of the show will be the same.

We are teaching kids how to support each other, how to build pride in themselves and boost self esteem. We are learning how to be a good audience member and what etiquette is. Kids will learn how to enter and exit their stage space, how to be responsible, how to smile and keep the show going.

So imagine how tickled I was when I received a picture of one of my students deep in preparations and thought for the weekend. THIS is what it’s about. Pride in what you do, where you study… learning how to responsibly pack your things and be organized. All of the things!

This is so special to me!!

Happy Tuesday!

Tonight in classes... we will do the "Surprise Dance" first so that we can easily move into Parent Viewing at the end of our classes. Most of the kids are getting a good feel for what to do for this dance but if anyone wants to drop in for a quick run through at 6:15... all are welcome. I set aside 30 min. but I don't know if we even really need the entire 30 min. so don't go far. :)

I can't believe we are here... recital week!!

The AC is in the studio window so I'll get that running when I open today.

PRE-K CLASS - we will have parents come in twice for showings... we will do surprise dance 2x. We will then do tap 1x alone probably and 1x for you, switch shoes and do the same. I'm hoping to leave a little time at the end so the kids can do some of their favorite activity based songs before they leave on the last day of regular season. :)

WHO REMEMBERED TO WEAR THEIR IMSOD SHIRTS TO SCHOOL!!??!! I forgot to remind you with some chaos going on at home. 😜 Tag us or post your pics below!

I don’t know if I’ve shared this one. Just my 2 senior tap dancers. Can’t believe they’ll be heading off into the big world soon. 1 is finishing year 9 with me and the other… year 15!

Come see these 2 and fellow graduate, Makena, shine on the stage next weekend!! Sunday at 1 at WHS!

And… don’t forget to wear your IMSOD tees to school on Tuesday! Take a photo and tag us and tell everyone about your upcoming show!
