Wade’s East West Martial Arts has been teaching in Russell County and the surrounding areas since 1984, making it one of the oldest martial arts schools in the state of Kentucky. Classes are still taught by the founder, Master Danny Wade, and his brother, Master John Wade. Together they have a combined 85 years of martial arts experience. With instructors well-versed in numerous styles of martial

arts, learned over decades of studying, training at Wade’s East West Martial Arts offers more than the traditional martial arts school. Master Danny Wade started studying Shaolin Kung Fu in 1977 under 6th degree Master Bob Green, and continued to learn under 3rd degree black belt, William Stephens, testing for black belt in 1983 under 10th degree Grandmaster Sin Kwan Thé. In 1985 Master Danny began studying Tae Kwon Do under 8th degree Master Young-Sun Kang. In 2009 Master Wade was promoted to 4th degree black belt by Hanshi Joe Williams, who is assistant director of the American Butokukai Federation. Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2002. Master John Wade received his black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu in 1988 from Master Danny Wade, and was promoted to 2nd degree black belt by O Sensei Phillip Porter, who at one time was the highest ranked caucasian Judo master in the world. In 1989 Master John received his black belt in Tae Kwon Do from 8th degree Master Young Sun-Kang, who was a former Republic of Korea (ROK) trooper. In 2009 Master John was promoted to 4th degree black belt by Hanshi Joe Williams. Hanshi Joe Williams is recognized by the Karate Institute of Japan and the International Butokukai Federation. Master John received Shodan 1st degree black belt in the Samurai art of Aiki Jujustu from Hanshi Joe Williams in 2011. In 2013 Master John was promoted to black belt in Modern Arnis by Grandmaster Bambit Dulay, and was granted permission to teach in the United States by the Philippines Tourism Commission. He is also recognized by the Philippines House of Congress. Hanshi Williams and Master Jeff Turner awarded Master John an honorary blue belt in Japanese Jujustu in 2004. Master John has also studied Tai Chi from Master Bob Green and has studied many other arts from a variety of great masters, instructors and professional fighters. Master John was inducted into the World Wide Martial Arts Hall of Fame for Martial Artist of the Year in June 2003.
