RedFly Tournaments

RedFly Tournaments RedFly was the brainchild of Capt. Jon Bull.

What originally started off as a small tournament based out of the Cockroach Bay in 2008, has turned into the largest, longest running, fly-fishing for redfish only tournament in the country.

RedFly #19 was another success! We definitely made the right move by postponing until Sunday. The weather was perfect. The bite was pretty tough. Big fish were hard to come by. However, 22.5" redfish seemed to be the going standard. 60 anglers fished RedFly and 14 teams weighed in fish. The largest fish was 28.5" which bucked the trend of recent years that multiple reds of 30"+ get weighed in. The prize raffle went off without a hitch. Big thanks to all of our sponsors. We raised over $1100 for Tampa Bay Waterkeeper. Now onto the results!!

1. Kyle Nalls/Jon Brett - 56"
2. Colby Hane/Justin Sexton - 52"
3. Trip Saunders/Sean Kersting - 51.25"
4. Clay Witt - 47.25"
5. Jon Bull/Chris Hartley - 45.25"
6. Timothy Fain/Zack Wark - 43.75"
7. Garrett Simmons/Erica Simmons - 42.5"

I love pickleball! I really love pickleball. But even I know that pickleball courts, disc golf courses, tennis courts, etc. DO NOT BELONG IN OUR STATE PARKS!!! People who have lived in Florida for less than 10 years don't get it. Y'all think that Florida is paradise right now.....you should've seen it 10, 15, 20, 25+ years ago! Our state parks are a reminder of what Florida used to be before it became inundated with transplants. Development is choking out our native animal and plant species, polluting our waterways, and basically eliminating any natural shorelines.

You want to build those types of amenities? Do it in county parks, or at county recreational centers. Improve those already standing facilities to give people the chance to enjoy those activities. I'll be right there next to you.

BUT KEEP FLORIDA STATE PARKS WILD!!!!!
