Paul Emerson asked me if I could believe that he, his dad Johnny, his brother Cole and Nathan Hernandez shot -8 in the scramble tonight. Short answer...NO! But they did! They started on #6 and birdied all the way thru #1. They added a birdie on #3 and finished with an eagle 3 on #5 for the win!
Clayton Hall, Conner Ellis, Jacob Woodlee, Jorge Sanchez and Tevin Taylor came up short at -7 and another stroke back in 3rd were Matthew Perkin, Kevin Fitzgerald, Kelly Keahey, John Keahey and CJ Hardy.
Long drive went to Kevin with a pretty good poke on #4. Carl Haddon took closest to the hole on #6 and Konner Gayle took #9. Had 38 players play. Next event is the Iron Horse 4 Man Scramble on June 27.

A little late posting the results from our Open Club Championship Member Guest Tournament, but it's still in quicker than the results from the latest California election🤔.
The Championship Flight saw Shelby Pierce fire a 1 under par 71, to go with his opening 73, to take the top spot with an even par 144. (Eyewitnesses claim he made every putt). Shelby started the day 3 strokes back of both Toby Goff and Jody McClosky, but had birdies on #1, #3 and #5 and had taken the lead for good after Jody doubled #8. Both Toby and Jody shot 78 to tie for 2nd with 148. A 3-hole playoff was won by Goff with a birdie on #3 to break the tie. Andrew Johnson came up just short with a 76-73 (149).
The 1st Flight ended up exactly like it ended up after round 1, but with higher scores. Roger Redden followed up his 73 with an 80 to stay in 1st, while Tommy McElroy stayed in 2nd with an 81 after his opening 77 and Eric Henslee hung on to 3rd at 80-86 (166). Mark Raiborn came in 4th with a pair of 84's.
Zack Kornegay made up a 6 stroke deficit to start the 2nd round to capture the 2nd flight. He carded a 91-88 for a 179. First he had to have a sudden death playoff though against Jeff Johnson, who carded an 87-92 and ended up 2nd. Jacob Woodlee shot 89-91 (180) to finish a stroke back in 3rd. 1st round leader Conner Ellis faded after struggling in with a 98. Jay Icet made a charge on Sunday with an 86 but settled for 4th.
Dee Caveness captured closest to the hole on #6 and Kelly Keahey took #9. Had 36 players. Big thank you to everyone who played and everyone who came out to hear Caleb Michael perform on Friday night. Also a big thanks to Eagles Den for the great fried fish. Next event is the Iron Horse 4 Man Scramble on June 27.

First round of the club championship is in the books and we have a tie! Both Jody McClosky and Toby Goff fired 2 under par 70's to share the lead in the championship flight. Toby shot 36-34 with 3 birdies on the back, while Jody birdied 4 of his first 5 holes and hung on for a 32-38. Sitting 3 strokes back, but in striking distance is Shelby Pierce with a 73. A triple bogey on #14 hurt the cause. Lurking another shot back is Konner Gayle at 2 over 74.
The 1st flight saw a dominant performance from Roger Redden. He came out hot with birdies on #1 and #3, en route to a 35-38 (73). He starts the 2nd round with a 4 shot cushion over Tommy McElroy and his 77. Eric Henslee sits in 3rd with an 80. Paul Emerson's 82 is 4th.
The 2nd flight is all bunched up with 7 players within 4 strokes of each other. Leading the pack is Conner Ellis with an 85. Jeff Johnson and Dee Caveness share 2nd at 87. Kelly Keahey and Jacob Woodlee both shot 89 and 3 more players are at 91.
Jody got closest to the hole on #6, while Zack Kornegay won yet another closest to the hole on #9. Tee time tomorrow for round 2 will be at 1:30 pm. Reminder: course is closed Sunday for round 2.

Eagle's Den is out here at the course tonight, and Caleb Michael will be performing some good ole Southern Country Rock! If you don't have anything planned come on out....starts at 6:00 pm.

We're finalizing the tee times for this weekend's tournament. If you are playing or wanting to play, we need to know today... by 2:00 pm! Tonight is the dinner and calcutta, as well as entertainment by Caleb Michaels...all starting at 6:00 pm. If you want to be included, call the course at 903-683-9518.

#6 was the the only par on the card for Tim, T.J. and Timmy Hill along with Chris Landry and Dee Caveness in the Thursday Scramble. Their --8 was good enough for a 1 stroke victory.
Taking 2nd by virtue of a 2 hole playoff...and a putt off, were Clayton Hall, Conner Ellis, Jacob Woodlee, Jorge Sanchez and Josh Langston. They carded --7, as did Nash Acker, Chris Perez, Corbin Renfroe, Kelly Keahey and Chance Fuqua.
Long drive went to Clayton on #4. Closest to the holes went to Carl Haddon on #6 and Matt Gunter on #9...yes, THAT Matt Gunter! Shootout tied yet again this week and we had 42 players...and believe it or NO RAIN!
Tournament is still planned as scheduled this weekend. Friday night dinner and entertainment begins at 6:00 pm. Saturday is tee times and Sunday is shotgun start at 1:30 pm. Call the golf course at 903-683-9518.

May have some showers popping up, but showing being gone by 6:00 pm. Still planning on the scramble happening...unless things get drastically worse....stay tuned.
