Righter Motorsports - Lil' Deuce Coupe - Super Modified TRUCK & TRACTOR PULLING

Righter Motorsports / Lil' Deuce Coupe .........More Information Coming Soon !!!

Last pass made at a Brush Pull (2013) - It's still a bit late with the acceleration....but getting closer. I finally bumped the rev. limiter (set at 9100) without melting anything down :-)

Well our next journey will takes us to the Illinois State Fair - John Deere Sponsored - I.T.P.A. Truck and Tractor Pull. Should be an exciting time.....Lots to do and see there. I have managed to uncover a few things over the past couple of runs I've made. I've applied a couple changes, and we'll see how things transpire. Almost every run prior, I've suffered from low boost/rpm .....with the exception of the Arthur event....and we all know how that went down (If not, see the below pics). With the changes made, I'm confident I'm going to have my boost/rpm back where it needs to be.....The real question is.... Can I keep enough fuel going down it's throat? I've made a big change there as well. I feel like I'm drowning this thing with fuel, and it still wants more???!!! I'll be sure to say a prayer......

Well, the last couple of days I've been scrambling to get the coupe back together for Altamont's ITPA event. Weather permitting we're "a go". I rolled the Coupe out of the shop into the storage building to perform the initial "Start-Up". I've posted a video of the initial "start-up"....This is always a tense moment....I'm sure several would agree. Everything went well. My wife was kind enough to video "the moment of truth" as it unfolded. Only an adjustment to the ignition timing and idle speed were required. All in all, a very good "start-up". I hope the weather holds out....only a few events left in Illinois. Once again I would like to thank Adam Koester, Bob Miner, and Travis Quillen for their help in this project......And of course last (and most important) my wife Amber....for her support as well.

The Nashville event went okay....I didn't break anything...a that's a very good thing. I'm still fighting the boost / engine speed situation. the track was very good, and the changes that were previously made , did in fact help,... just not enough. There are a couple of other changes that will be made for Arthur to determine the boost problem/engine speed problem. If these changes don't "bring it to life", I'm not sure what to do next.....

The Arthur event turned out to be a bit of a disaster....A couple of changes were made yet again in hopes to bring the boost and engine speed up to their desired levels.....Well.....The changes worked......A LOT.....The result was an OVER boost by 50%, and up against the rev. limiter (8800+rpm)......The biggest problem was the result of what occurs when you have 50% more boost and not enough fuel to support that boost level......Any guesses???.....Here's a clue.... "BLOW TORCH"...... Major damage occurred....melted parts & debris throughout the engine. We're talking: sleeves, pistons, rings, wrist pins, connecting rods, valves, etc were made into molten junk......Not Good. I do however, know what caused the over-boost condition, and have a corrective action in place to prevent it from happening again....

HEY GUESS WHAT!!?? I have it tore down again....LOL

This time not as far. One intake rocker arm was sacrificed during the run, and I found a couple of other issues that might have contributed to the low engine speed. I'm also changing the turbo turbine housings and making piston compression changes as well.......We'll see how things turn out in Nashville next Wednesday. :)

Well here's the run at Rushville, Illinois.......It did finally come to life :) It was a bit short on rpm (only 6800 max....needs to be 8000+), but it's heading in the right direction. This video is from the helmet cam. The video lasts for 7:00+ min., but you need only to concern yourself with the first 3:00.....(I forgot to turn it off, and haven't figured out how to edit the file) LOL

Okay, I gave it a bit of a test tonight at the shop.....All systems "A Go". It has a lot more power down low :) .......It should be interesting tomorrow....weather permitting.

07/02/2013

Everything is back together with "THE" new camshaft.....I'm now waiting on a new 1.5" dia. fuel line to arrive....The other fuel line started to react from the methanol (hard and brittle). So, if all goes well, I'll set the timing, and do some "testing" tomorrow night at the north shop. I'm praying this works :)
