One of the state’s premier wrestling tournaments is held each year right in our own backyard!
The Red Halverson Invitational—named after Minico High School’s first wrestling coach—has been a proud tradition since 1955. This year’s tournament will take place January 30–31, 2026, and will once again welcome athletes and spectators from across Idaho.
Beyond the competition, the tournament provides a significant economic boost to the Mini-Cassia communities, with visitors supporting local restaurants, hotels, fuel stations, and grocery stores—strengthening our local economy.
We’re excited to assist with preparations for this outstanding event and are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who make it possible year after year. Your dedication keeps this tradition strong.
Who was Red Halverson?

He was the first wrestling coach at Minico High School, an influential figure in local schools during the late 1960s, and a man whose family continues to have strong roots in the Mini-Cassia communities today.
