Stranded…
The one principle I’ve learned after 275 nautical miles
that will get you moving in your life, health, career, and relationships.
I’ve been stranded in the middle of the ocean for a week…
and yesterday, I was beached.
It was a challenging moment, but it got me thinking.
In life, we can feel stuck. Lost.
Or like we’re just holding on—wanting to move forward.
We can see the destination clearly.
We plan it all out.
But we can only plan for so much.
Life has a way of throwing challenges our way
when we least expect it.
Over the years, I’ve facilitated some pretty intense experiences
for people who know life is an adventure meant to be fully lived.
Usually, I use myself as the guinea pig.
I pick an adventure, go do it,
and see what I learn that can be useful for the people I work with.
I’ve had some epic adventures.
This time, I chose sailing
1,000+ nautical miles from Florida to New Jersey.
I’ve always loved sailing.
There’s something about harnessing the power of nature
to move yourself forward, that feels incredible.
So what’s the one principle I’ve learned
that I’m bringing into future Zerkers experiences?
This quote sums it up beautifully:
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
So here it is:
You’ll never know until you go.
Go for your dreams.
Go for your loved ones.
Go for your kids.
Go for yourself.
Go.
The next 24–48 hours are still unknown.
And I’ve been stranded with engine trouble for a week.
But I’ll look back on these past few weeks—traveling, pushing my limits—
knowing I gave it everything I had.
I don’t know what the future holds
or how this all unfolds.
But if you’re feeling stranded…
struggling to move forward…
And you’ve spent years balancing work, responsibility, health, family, and life—
only to realize something feels off underneath it all…
If that hits, it might be time to talk.
I’d be happy to help you put some wind in your sails
so you can actually reach your destination.
To your next adventure.
Much love,
Jon
