As noted earlier today, The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak visited the Great Black Swamp Frogs for the Genecross Lutheran home match. Truly a great day!

The day embodied vintage base ball. Rotating in kids, spectators, and first timers. With both teams initially needing assistance we reached out for reserves. Huge thanks to Gerard Milewski, Zach Tuggle, Anika Zufelt, Grant Sullivan and the amazing first timers on the frogs!

The Wahoo bats were lively, and the defense was stout. But baseball and fun won the day!!!!

Welp! Day 2 of the Ohio Cup is in the books! The bats did not go the Wahoo way today for sure, but we had fun.

The day started at 11 against the Columbus Buckeyes. They gave us a hitting tutorial and final tally of 17-1. Game 2 was against our friends the Monitor Base Ball Club of Chelsea, MI. There were a couple of moments where we needed to bring the temperature down. And the even-keeled Monitors did a great job of steadying the wagon to hang on for a final tally of 7-6. Game 3 was against the Tippecanoe Canal Jumpers. A defensive battle at its best. After a full 6 innings the Canal Jumpers had leaped ahead to a 3-2 victory.

While The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak was scheduled for 6 games over the weekend you could see us in many facets assisting the Minnesota Union, the Franklin Base Ball Club, adding 3 ladies to the ladies game, partaking in the all-comers match, and even tally keeping and umpiring!

The Ohio Village Muffins and The Ohio Village Diamonds do a fantastic job hosting this festival every year and the hard work is always recognized, noticed, and appreciated in every way. Always a highlight of our season, we cannot wait to return! What a wonderful venue and atmosphere for the game!!!

Ohio Cup Day 1 in the books!!!

Wahoos began the day with a wonderfully fun match against the Deep River Grinders out of Hobart, Indiana! The Wahoos exhibited some timely hitting to finish the game with a 10-8 victory.

After a lengthy break, which has been our nemesis, we faced the Great Black Swamp Frogs. In a tightly defended match by both clubs, the Wahoos were lucky to come away with a 5-2 victory. The frogs have mentioned their desire to reverse this next Saturday!

We finished our day playing the Indianapolis Blues! Last year was a close match and this year proved no different. In a back and forth match, with more stellar defense the Blue came away with a 4-2 victory!

After a few of us took part in the All-Comers match last night, The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak is ready to begin our Ohio Cup today!!!

10am v Deep River Grinders
2pm v Great Black Swamp Frogs
4pm v Indianpolis Blues

Once the drizzle clears we are looking at a beautiful day for baseball!!!!

Today The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak traveled to visit our good friends, the Union Base Ball Club of Dexter! At a new venue, the gorgeous field adjacent to Dexter High School.

In an effort to avenge our loss 2 weeks ago, the Wahoos lacked patience at the plate that translated to some early blunders on the field! We let Dexter take an early 7-0 lead. We tried clawing back all day!

Entering the Wahoo top of the 9th, the score was 14-10. The Wahoos tallied a quick 2 aces, and then had the tying run on first with only one out! The Union first baseman showed some agility and tracked down to foul balls to retire the Wahoos and secure victory for the Union Club!

There were however a few highlights!!! Moptop returned from his family trip to Florida to play for the first time in almost a month, in a new position (2nd base). Had 3 hits, and threw the ball so well he broke Brain's thumb at 1st! Mallet decided to take a divot the size of Royal Oak out of the right field grass, and Yankee relayed a throw to 1st that almost secured a double play!

We had a great time and cannot wait to see these guys on the field in 2027!

The Ohio Cup, hosted by The Ohio Village Muffins! A highlight to our season over Labor Day weekend!!

Due to inclement weather incoming, the Wyandotte Stars Vintage Base Ball Club and The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak have made a mutual decision to cancel tomorrow's match in Wyandotte.

This is the first rain out for the Wahoos in a long time. We apologize for any inconvenience!

Our next match will be August 29th at the Union Base Ball Club of Dexter

Today The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak hosted two clubs who braved the congestion on Woodward Ave today: the Mansfield Independents Base Ball Club and Union Base Ball Club of Dexter!

In the first game of the day, the Wahoo bats struck true all game. The Mansfield 9 had a few incredible hits, including a home run!

While the Wahoos watched game two, Dexter and Mansfield completed 5 innings in about 30 minutes and elected to complete a full 9 innings.

After a short break and a few rain drops, the Wahoos and Union closed out the day. Apparently, the Wahoos lost their bats during the break and Dexter, to use a Dream Cruise reference, put their peddle to the metal and took advantage of our lacking bats!

What a great day of fun, base ball, and camaraderie!

The Wahoo Base Ball Club of Royal Oak will be hosting a round Robin at Starr Jaycee Park tomorrow with games being played at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm! We are hosting the fun group if the Mansfield Independents Base Ball Club and our longtime friends, the Union Base Ball Club of Dexter!

Did you know: The Mansfield Club hails from the city where they filmed the iconic movie "Shawshank Redemption". They even used to play their home matches on the grounds of the Ohio State Reformatory, the prison used in filming. Stop by and ask them questions!
