I took this after taking a pilates class with my son, Daniel. He's owned a pilates studio, Studio Blue PDX, in Portland, OR for 17 years. Pilates is a fabulous way to lengthen & tone muscles. I was doing pilates long before I knew it was pilates! I'm 60ish here. This is the mat room in Daniel's studio.
Every action you take counts toward your fitness goals. It's not about spending arduous hours in the gym, unless you want to, of course. NEAT...Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenics...is the energy you extend for everything you do that is not sleeping, eating, or sports-like exercise. It all counts. Good news!
I believe every action you take toward your goal, no matter how small, will lead to obtaining the results you desire. It can't not work!
As a "lived experience" coach in the areas of chronic illness, pain, and weight gain/loss, I adopted healthy lifestyle patterns which have served me over the years. Exercise (mostly) healthy diet, meditation, writing, and creating sculpture has changed my life in myriad ways.
My model of health coaching is holistic. it espouses the interconnectedness of each modality to create whole body-mind wellness. Fitness, Nutrition, Behavior (Mindset) Modification, Trigger Point Therapy, Yoga (including Meditation), as you wish, all play a role in creating the healthier, happier life you desire.
