This is a new program we are launching. It's a traditional Jiu-jitsu class covering punching, kicking, blocking, throws, ground, self-defense, etc.
Ages 6yrs -12yrs old (9yrs and up may be moved to the primary classes)
Tuesday-Thursday: 5pm-5:45pm
We are going old-school with our teaching format and style. We are focusing on developing kids with Honor, Respect, Discipline, and good Martial Arts.

Judo science! Detailing out some of the throw angles for versions of Tai-Otoshi and O-Soto-Otosh based on Uke's weight.
I demonstrate this in a bunch of different ways, but some people's learning type requires diagrams.
True Judo is about the math and timing of it. It's actually very scientific. People say that if it doesn't look like the YouTube videos, then it's not Judo. Lol
Maybe, those who say that have a very narrow and limited view of what Judo actually is because there is an incredible about of horrible and dangerous Judo being taught on YouTube and in schools all over the US.
IF you want to learn old Judo, how it was originally intended, then you need to be training with us.

They don't make Gis like the used too. I found where there was a little wear on the sleeves. Now... Mr Barron has a Street Fughter Judo Gi. Haha
It's not always Death nad Destruction in the Dojo. We love having fun, eating lunch as a group after Saturday training, and hanging out. There's enough real world stress outside of the Dojo, so this is our Zen place.

IMPORTANT TRAFFIC DETOUR FOR TOMORROW'S SEMINAR!
Picadilly Dr is currently under construction and is configured as a One-Way. The bridge over by Lauren Concrete is going to be completely closed this weekend for replacement of the bridge.
To get to the Dojo for the Sensei Matl Seminar, scheduled at 1pm-3pm, you will need to come in from the IH-35 Feeder Road and turn in at the Northpointe Trade Center entrance and come around from behind the industrial buildings.

Judo Seminar with Sensei Zdenek Matl
June 21st, 2025 - 1:00PM to 3:00PM
Regular Saturday Class: CANCELLED
Sensei Matl 82yrs old and is a Kudan (9th Dan Black Belt) in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu with the U.S. Martial Arts Assoc., Kudan (9th Dan Black Belt) in Judo with Fugakukai International Assoc, Hachidan (8th Dan Black Belt) in Judo with the U.S. Judo Assoc., and inducted in to the Texas Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year in 2000.
Sensei Matl was a professional Judo and Jiu-Jitsu fighter for Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic). Sensei Matl is one of the highest ranked Judo Black Belts in Europe and is an International Judo Champion. He was also a member of the Czech Special Forces. Sensei Matl is extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu and how it's applied in competition settings, military and Special Forces, Self-Defense, and in everyday life.

Seoi-Maki-Komi during Saturday Shiai with Mr Shupe. When someone tells me I can't do a throw on them, then it looks like a good time for a life lesson. Haha.
This particular Saturday was "Seoi-Nage-Saturday". Mr Shupe challenged me saying I couldn't throw him with Ippon-Seoi-Nage. So, I told him I would ONLY do Seoi-Nage during Shiai. I stopped after 12. It was all in good fun.
Good technique. Good body mechanics. Good control. This is our focus when training.
If you are using speed and power to execute a technique in practice, then you're doing it wrong. If your instructor tells you more speed and power to execute a technique in practice, then they likely don't really understand how the technique works and the physics behind it.

30 Year Judo Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Anniversary!
December 1994, I received my Judo and Jiu-Jitsu Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt). At that time, I was teaching and training 6 days/wk.
Since then I have been teaching and training anywhere from 3 to 7 days/wk working with Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, teens, and aults of all ages.
I am now ranked as a Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) in Judo and Jiu-Jitsu under Sensei Zdenek Matl.
For my entire grappling career, I have had only ONE insturctor and that's Sensei Matl.
Everything I have done and can do is 100% thanks to him and his foundation. I could not be more honored.
I've had people try to tell me that we aren't doing Judo or that it's fake or what not because it doesn't look like everyone else's "instructional" videos or the Olympics.
I just laugh because when they step on the mat with me, I always make them believers. The keyboard warriors... yeah, they don't show up. Because they're scared of course.
My technique, fighting, and teaching abilities speak for themselves. Everything we do is purely based on physics, body mechanics, and timing.

The Haas family has officially expanded! What an amazing last couple of weeks...
I have always said that my purpose on this Earth is to teach Judo and Jiu-jitsu and the Dojo is a place where we actually build relationships with the Martial Arts as the vehicle.
After 30 years of teaching people, God has blessed me with meeting my first True Love, who is now my beautiful wife.
The Dojo... this is where we met, she met my kids, and we fell in love. It was a long process of vetting each other out to make sure what we have is real.
Now... the Dojo is where we were officially joined together under the eyes of God. What a truly amazing day to have the people we love there to witness. To keep it small, we only had immediate family. It was truly amazing.
Grandmaster Al Garza, whom I've known for 30yrs was our Pastor. What an amazing honor.
To top is all off... we are also announcing that we are expanding the family further together with our own beautiful little girl on the way.
God has truly blessed me with such amazing gifts. The gift of love and support from an amazing and Beautiful woman. The gift of love and support from my amazing son, brother, and cousin. And to top it all off... the amazing gift of another daughter on the way.
It's been a long time since I've been this happy. This entire process has also completely restored my faith in God.
Because Judo brought us together is proof that I am on the right path.

Kata-Guruma during Saturday Shiai. Grabbing the legs is illegal in Judo competition, but over here, we don't care because we are learning and training Judo how it was originally intended.
We do leg grabs, two on one gripping, extended Ne-Waza with shoulder locks, wrist locks, leg locks, etc. We are doing Judo. Old Judo.

What an amazing Saturday, March 2nd. I got to celebrate another trip around the Sun and the birthday of the great state of Texas. I am now the same age as my father when he passed away. It's a strange realization.
I spent the day on the mats doing what I am meant to do. My purpose in life. Teaching Judo and Jiu-jitsu. Working to single handedly change the course of the lives of others through the beauty and power of Judo and Jiu-jitsu.
The philosophy and principles of Judo transcends the mats and apply to ever day life as I have learned from Sensei Matl (my Sensei).
These pics are snapshots of me randomly fighting with The Snowgun (my assigned fight name for him). He kept trying to sneak attack me all day trying to throw me for my birthday.
Needless to say... it didn't work out for Snowgun. Haha. This was a beautiful Ko-Soto-Gari captured by the phone of a student recording. Video coming soon.
I am so appreciative of what Judo and Jiu-jitsu has given me. The life long friends and family. The power to single handedly destroy people's perceptions of how the world works.
At 51. I'm still training AND fighting regularly.
As I have painted on the wall of the Dojo... "DO MORE JUDO".
