🎉Congratulations to Coach Peter Kaskan on earning his Prévôt d'Épée certification from the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA)!

Becoming a Prévôt d'Épée is a major milestone in a fencing coach's professional development. As a Level 4 USFCA coaching certification, it recognizes advanced expertise in épée technique, tactics, lesson instruction, and athlete development.

This certification is challenging to earn. Candidates must demonstrate years of fencing and coaching experience while successfully completing rigorous written, oral, and practical examinations before a panel of certified USFCA Fencing Masters.

Coach Peter's achievement reflects his dedication to mastering his craft and his commitment to providing the highest quality instruction to every fencer he coaches. His passion for continuous learning and excellence helps make Round Rock Fencing Club an even stronger place to train and compete.

🎉 Celebrating 40 Years of Round Rock Fencing Club! 🎉

Every fencing club has champions. Not every fencing club has generations.

This year, Round Rock Fencing Club celebrates 40 years of bringing the sport of fencing to Central Texas!

Founded in 1986 by Maestro Gary Murray, RRFC was built on a simple vision: create a place where anyone could learn fencing in a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment. Four decades later, that vision continues to guide everything we do.

Over the past 40 years, thousands of students have stepped onto our strips. We've celebrated first lessons, first tournaments, national and world champions, Hall of Fame inductees, accomplished coaches, referees, and countless lifelong friendships. While we're proud of those achievements, we're even more proud of the community we've built.

Our legacy lives on through the people RRFC has helped shape. Coach Peter Kaskan first joined the club as a 10-year-old student under Maestro Gary Murray and now serves as a co-owner and coach. Many of today's coaches also began their fencing journey at RRFC or trained with the club before returning to inspire the next generation.

From our beginnings in Round Rock, the club expanded to Lakeway under Maestro Gary Murray's leadership and continues to grow today with our Pflugerville location under Alan Uthoff and Peter Kaskan.

Even in retirement, Maestro Gary continues his lifelong mission of making fencing accessible to everyone through the Heart of Texas Fencing Academy for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

To every student, parent, coach, volunteer, referee, and supporter who has been part of our story—thank you. You've helped make RRFC more than a fencing club. You've helped build a family.

⚔️ Round Rock Fencing Club at the Weekend Warrior Championship ⚔️

Our fencers had an outstanding weekend, bringing home a championship title, multiple podium finishes, and a team medal!

🥇 Phoenix Seymour captured 1st Place in Division I-A Mixed Épée.

🥈 Herbert Starling earned 2nd Place in Division I-A Mixed Saber.

🥉 Gail Castillo took 3rd Place in Division I-A Mixed Saber, winning her first direct elimination bout and achieving her best tournament result of the season so far!

In foil, RRFC was well represented with:

• Benjamin – 12th

Our Competitive Sabre Camp is designed for intermediate and competitive fencers who want to improve tournament performance through focused training, advanced drills, and coached bouting.

🥇 First Place Victory and a New Rating! 🥇

Congratulations to Diego Santana for taking 1st Place in Senior Mixed Saber at the Texas Fencing Academy Cup 4 and earning his new E26 rating!

Diego fenced an outstanding event from start to finish:

⚔️ Finished 1st after pools with a perfect 4–0 record and a +13 indicator
⚔️ Won his semifinal bout 15–14 over top rated fencer
⚔️ Won gold medal bout 15–7
🏅 Earned his first official USA Fencing rating: E26
