CFRR Athlete of the Month — Clif 💪
Clif is the kind of athlete every coach loves working with.
He's consistent. He's hardworking. He cares about improving, but he also cares about doing things the right way. He doesn't look for shortcuts or quick fixes. He asks questions, pays attention to the details, and trusts the process even when progress takes time.
When asked about a misconception he had about CrossFit, his answer is one we hear all the time. That you need to get in shape before you can start.
"So many people hear about the workouts and immediately think, 'I could never do that.'"But as Clif points out, that's not how this works.
Whether you're already fit, getting back into fitness, or starting from square one, every workout can be adjusted to meet you where you are.
The goal isn't to prove how fit you are today.
The goal is to build the version of yourself you want to become tomorrow.
That's what makes CrossFit different.
Not that everyone does the same workout.
But that everyone has a path forward.
We're grateful for members like Clif who help remind people that progress doesn't belong to the fittest person in the room.
It belongs to the person willing to start.

CFRR Athlete of the Month — Clif 💪
One of the many things we appreciate about Clif is that he never came in looking for shortcuts. He wanted to learn. He wanted to build a solid foundation. He wanted to make sure he was moving well before worrying about moving more weight.
That's not always the flashy approach.
But it's the approach that creates confidence. It's the approach that creates longevity. And it's the approach that allows people to keep showing up year after year.
After trying a few different places, Clif noticed something that felt different here.
Most gyms offered a free class, watched him work out once, and then immediately started talking about memberships.
At CFRR, the conversation was different.
Before jumping into classes, the focus was on understanding where he was starting.
What movements felt comfortable.
What needed work.
What would help him build confidence before stepping onto the class floor.
That's something we believe matters.
Not because everyone starts in the same place.
Because nobody does.
The goal isn't to throw people into the deep end and hope they figure it out.
The goal is to meet people where they are, help them build a foundation, and give them the tools to keep moving forward.
Clif's story is a reminder that progress often starts with someone taking the time to understand you first. Proud of you sir!

🏓 CFRR Community Pickleball Night 🏓

On June 6th from 5–7pm, we’re taking the community outside the gym walls and onto the courts at Fieldhouse at The Crossover for a night of pickleball, laughs, competition, and probably way too much trash talk.

And before anyone says it…

“Nope, I don’t know how to play.”

Perfect. Come anyway.

Half the fun of community events is trying something new with people who make you feel comfortable enough to be bad at it for a little while. There will be plenty of pickleball pros there ready to help, teach, and cheer you on while you figure it out.

Come move, compete, laugh a little, and spend a Saturday night with good people.

🚨 Skill Session Alert 🚨

This month’s skill session is all about Rope Climbs.

If you’ve ever thought, “How are people making this look so easy?” or “Why do my arms feel smoked after one climb?” this one’s for you.

On June 6th, Coach Matt is breaking down the Rope Climb step by step at CrossFit Round Rock. We’ll focus on proper foot locks, body positioning, pulling efficiency, timing, and how to use your legs the way they’re supposed to so you can climb smarter, conserve energy, and build confidence every time you leave the floor.

Skill sessions are where real progress happens. You get time to slow it down, clean up positions, ask questions, and actually understand the movement without the pressure of the clock. That carries over into smoother workouts, better efficiency, and way fewer “I have no idea what I’m doing up there” moments in class.

CFRR Athlete of the Month — Clif 💪
If you’ve met Clif outside of a workout, you know him as calm, collected, and easy to talk to but the second the clock starts all bets are off! 😂
The quiet demeanor disappears and suddenly you’re watching someone attack workouts, chase progress, and fight for every rep like he’s got something to prove.
That’s one of the things that's made watching Clif’s journey so rewarding.
Before joining CFRR, Clif had visited a few other gyms. What stood out to him here wasn’t being thrown into a workout and immediately asked to sign up.

It was the fact that the coaches wanted to make sure…
.
He could move well.
He felt comfortable.
He understood this was something he could do.
.
And now years later, watching Clif continue to grow has been incredible.
.
One of his proudest moments was getting his first muscle up after working toward it for a long time. From jumping muscle ups… to banded reps… to finally trusting himself enough to take the band away.
.
He understands that fitness is about building yourself over time.
.
He’s the one reminding his friends that the workouts they see him doing are all scalable. That almost nobody starts doing things “RX.”
.
One of the many reasons Clif fits in so well at CFRR is his “why”. He wants to be able to….HIKE, RUN, MOVE WELL into his later years.

And that perspective matters because fitness is really just about protecting your ability to fully live your life the way you want to years from now.
