Remi's Academy of Defense (R.A.D.)

Remi's Academy of Defense (R.A.D.) Ryan Harris (Remi) founded Remi’s Academy in 2011, fulfilling a lifelong dream to own a club where he shares his passion for fencing.

He has instructed fencing for individuals, UMFC, Concordia Language Villages, RAHS, Swordplay!, and MSC since 1997. “The pointy end goes in the other man” (or woman as the case may be). Remi's Academy of Defense teaches advanced as well as the beginning techniques of Sport Fencing, from demonstrating the use of proper movement to building an understanding of range and distance. Emphasis is also pl

aced on the execution of various attacks and defenses with acceptable touch calibration for foil, epee and sabre. In addition to the three weapon techniques listed above, we offer various Historic Fencing forms such as rapier and German long sword. If there is another weapon you are interested in learning, please let us know! Most of Remi's students fence for a fun recreational outlet, but others have pursued state and national tournament competition, receiving both letters and medals. Group classes are offered year-round. We accept any age and any level fencer. See our website for up-to-date class information.
