Don’t forget to EXERCISE when dieting!!
The message you generally hear from weight loss “experts” tends to be to focus upon the numbers when deaing with weight loss. For those giving advise (and trying to get the most views on the internet), the quicker the pounds can drop, the more popular they will be.
The reality is this can be detrimental to your health.
Losing weight quickly is most often due to WATER WEIGHT and MUSCLE LOSS. Long term, it can be due to losing BONE DENSITY as well. All 3 will contribute to a decrease of overall pounds on the scale, but is that the goal for healthy, long term weight loss?
To prevent negative health effects, and also succeed in long term weight loss maintenance, focus upon eating enough to stay out of starvation and don’t forget to exercise - especially resistance exercise which will help increase, not decrease, your bone density.
Losing weight is often associated with healthy living. However, that’s not always the case. Rapid weight loss could be detrimental to your bone density, especially in postmenopausal women. Losing too much bone mass can bring on osteoporosis and lead to a higher risk of fractures.
