This approach, coupled with cover crops, mimics nature very closely. Because we run our pens at only seventy per cent of recommended capacity, we experience virtually no losses. Work in pens occurs only at night using headlamps, and this helps keep the birds flighty. Also contributing to low mortality is our strict enforcement of bio-security measures. Further reducing the need to enter pens, this not only prevents the introduction of any diseases to the farm, but also results in a healthier, disease-free bird to you!
