ALL SYSTEMS GO FOR SUNDAY 9/13 GOLF🇺🇸⛳️
The 15th Annual USA Men’s Bandy Golf Tourney at Pioneer Creek GC is gaining momentum. At least a dozen 4-somes have committed so far and hole sponsors are lining up fast for this ultra-exciting event.
Golfers: If you still want to play but don’t have a group (or only have a partial group), no problem. Just contact Golf Director Andrew Knutson ([email protected]) and he will put you in a group.
Come on out and have some fun and  support our bandy program. Food and prizes post- tourney on the patio again. See you there!

JACKSON BLAKE MAKES HISTORY: WINS BOTH THE STANLEY CUP AND CANNON CUP ONLY WEEKS APART
For the last four decades in USA Bandy, the Cannon Cup has been known as “the Stanley Cup of Bandy” as players who win it are immortalized by getting their name engraved on the cup, mirroring the NHL’s Stanley Cup. That makes what Sirius bandy player Jackson Blake accomplished this summer both ironic and an incredible feat that may never be duplicated. Fresh off his Stanley Cup win in June 26’ with the Carolina Hurricanes, Blake quickly resumed play on his Sirius summer bandy team and subsequently led his team to the league championship last night, capturing another iconic trophy - the Cannon Cup. For his stellar bandy playoff performance, Blake was named “Playoff MVP”.
While there have been numerous NHL players who have played in the U.S.A  summer bandy league over four decades including Gordie Roberts, Jack Hillen, Jamie McBain, Charlie and Ryan Lindgren, Justin Fontaine, Justin Faulk and others, none have won both cups.   Roberts won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburg in 91’ and 92’ but never won bandy’s Cannon Cup.
Blake’s incredible skill and his enthusiasm playing summer bandy the last three seasons has contributed to an explosion of new talent into the sport. For his efforts, USA Bandy congratulates Jackson on his incredible summer winning both the Stanley Cup and Cannon Cup and we hope to see him back out there next summer.

SIRIUS IS 2026 CANNON CUP CHAMPION 🏆
Two teams loaded with world class skating talent squared off Wednesday night for the chance to win the iconic Cannon Cup. Fresh off huge wins in the semi-finals, both teams were confident they would prevail. Only the Bombers’ Mike Lickteig and Joe Rehkamp had ever won the Cannon Cup, arguably the hardest trophy to win in USA Bandy. Therefore, this left 15 other players including the entire Sirius team all seeking their first Cup. The Bombers dominated the first half, taking a two goal 7-5 lead into the second half. But led by Jackson Blake’s superb ball handling and creative passing, Sirius took control of the game and scored eight second half goals for a hard fought 13-9 victory. Congrats to winning manager Zack Wynne for putting this Cup-winning Sirius team together.
Also a shout out to the Bombers who also had a great season making it back to the Final, having reloaded with several exciting new players.
Finally, a special thanks to head ref Andy Fronek and the ref crew and the Summer League Directors Jeff Arundel, Greg Olson and Kalli Funk for organizing the 26’ season. See you all next year!

BOMBERS AND SIRIUS SET TO BATTLE FOR USA BANDY IMMORTALITY 🏆
At Monday’s semi-finals, an energized Tonka Bay Bombers squad upset Sammy Walker’s defending champion Spanky’s team 10- 7 to reach the Cannon Cup Final for the second straight year. Bomber goalie Mac Berglove was spectacular, winning the keeper showdown with recent All Star Game MVP Gavin Enright who also gave a top notch performance in net. In the other bracket, Jackson Blake and keeper Zach Wynne led Sirius BC past a tough Flying  Sparrows squad 7-5 to reach their first cup final in over a decade. For USA Bandy players, the winner of the iconic Cannon Cup has become a way to secure your place in bandy history. Like the Stanley Cup, individual players names get engraved on the Cup. This amazing opportunity will bring out the absolute best from each and every one of the players.
The Bandy Nation is invited to come out Wed to see the incredible world class skating talent on display.

CANNON CUP FINAL FOUR SET
Four teams emerged from the first round of the playoffs last Wednesday and will battle it out in Monday’s Semi-Final round to see who makes it to the 26’ Cannon Cup Final. The Tonka Bay Bombers had the toughest match of the evening vs the Snow Ponies as they fell behind 4-0 and 6-2 before waking up and launching a relentless 2nd half attack. Three Bombers had hat-tricks (Joe Rehkamp, Liam Malmquist and Mike Licktieg); and keeper Mac Berglove shut the door as the Bombers dodged a bullet and won 10-7. They hope to return to the Final but will have to get past defending champ Spanky’s. In the other matches, Sirius beat the Blue Ox; Spanky’s took down the Mississippi Mojo and the Flying Sparrows ended the Diamond Lakers season with a strong match.
All eyes are on Sirius’ Jackson Blake as he attempts to become the first player to ever win the Stanley Cup and the Cannon Cup (USA Bandy’s version of the Stanley Cup) in the same season. This would be an incredible feat. Former NHL player Gordie Roberts played summer bandy for three years in the 80’s and won a Stanley Cup with  Pittsburgh in 91’, but never won a Cannon Cup.
Monday 8/10 Semi-Finals at Eden Prairie Arena :

USA LEGENDS TOP SWEDEN/USA MASTERS
The first of two classic matches on Tuesday featured the USA Legends against the Sweden/USA Masters - a core of Swedish players and some USA vets.
With 5 Hall of Fame players on the ice (Chris Halden, Rick Haney, Steve Nelson, Andy Fronek and Jasper Felder) plus HOF refs Kevin Bowen and Rob Goldnick as well as Chris Middlebrook on bench as coach, USA Bandy history was well represented. The game was tight all the way as keepers Tom Stone and Derek Melander were stellar. Andy Fronek finally broke a 3-3 tie with a few minutes left and Ian Petersen added a clincher to give the USA Legends a 5-3 victory. For his clutch efforts, Fronek was named MVP. Tommy Stone was named “Best Player” for the Masters. The evening wrapped up with a celebration in the parking lot as all four teams gathered to relive past glory across the planet. All in all, “Bandy Night In America” was a smash success enjoined by all.

ANOTHER EPIC ALL STAR GAME ⭐️
The 2026 annual USA Rink Bandy All Star Game was yet another classic as Team North America beat the USA All Stars in a shootout. After taking a 4-0 early lead, the USA battled back and Daren Richardson scored with only a few seconds left to tie the score 8-8. After a short OT with no goals,  it went into a shootout where Porter Haney and Liam Malmquist scored for Team North America. Keeper Gavin Enright held kept USA off the board in the shootout and was named Game MVP - earning himself a nice purple Crown Royale prize. John Arundel was named top player on USA. Thanks to all the players for showcasing the amazing summer bandy talent in USA Bandy. Bravo!

TUESDAY 8/4 IS “BANDY NIGHT IN AMERICA” 🇺🇸
Tuesday August 4 is a big night for the USA Bandy Nation as the annual summer league All Star ⭐️Game and Legends Game will be played back-to-back at Richfield Arena.
The Legends start off the action packed evening and play at 6:45PM. This match features several former top Team USA players from the past including HOF members Chris Halden, Jasper Felder, Rick Haney and Andy Fronek. They will be taking on the Swedish/USA 🇸🇪🇺🇸Masters. The Swedes have four coaches in Minnesota for the Swedish/American Bandy Camp that has 150 kids signed up this year and are sponsoring the two matches.
The main event is the 8:00 PM All Star Game that includes several of the top players in the United States Rink Bandy League (USRBL). These include long time vets Joe Rehkamp, Daren Richardson, Andrew Knutson, keeper Zach Wynne, John Arundel and Mike Hosfield. The game will also include rising stars Liam Malmquist, Mason Reiners, Porter Haney and keeper Gavin Enright. The organizers are hoping Stanley Cup champ Jackson Blake can play.
