ROBBY SAWYER AND DYLAN ZAMPA CLAIM CARS TOUR WEST VICTORIES AT ROSEVILLE’S FIRST RESPONDERS NIGHT

ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Bakersfield’s Robby Sawyer and Napa’s Dylan Zampa prevailed in the SPEARS CARS Tour West action on Saturday night at Roseville’s All American Speedway, leading the way during First Responders Night. Sawyer’s win marked his first ever victory in the Southwest Pro Late Models, taking the $7,500 prize in the JM Environmental Wild West Shootout. Zampa’s victory marked a homecoming, with the two-time All American Speedway champion taking a $4,000 haul in the Limited Late Models. Photo by Mackenzie Naake

“I can’t believe I’m standing down here. I’m an emotional guy when it comes to this. I have a lot of heart and soul for racing. This all started out as a joke. And I felt like I had something to prove that it wasn’t,” Sawyer said through tears. “I have to thank my wife. Without my wife and my kid’s support I wouldn’t be here.”

Martinez Vito Cancilla, 14, topped qualifying for the 125-lap Pro Late Model feature which kicked off the night. Las Vegas’ Jaron Giannini used a lap 20 restart to charge past Cancilla on the high side and nab the lead. Sawyer drove into second by lap 33, diving inside of Cancilla. 16th-starting Jaiden Reyna of Huntersville, NC starred throughout the event, darting into the third position over Cancilla as well.

Giannini had a strong advantage of Sawyer nullified on lap 47, with Giannini and the slower car of Modesto’s Hans Beeler collided in turns one and two. Giannini was relegated to the rear of the field for his involvement.

Robby Sawyer assumed the lead on lap 48, a lead he would not relinquish despite furious battling and racing throughout the final 77 laps of the contest. Giannini drove to second and pursued Sawyer in lapped traffic but the Nevada driver had to pit with just eight laps remaining. John Moore in his comeback race and Reyna dueled for second before a collision on lap 118 sent Reyna spinning.

Giannini avoided the chaos to drive back into second but could not close in on Sawyer. Robby Sawyer claimed the victory by a few car lengths while Giannini settling for second. Three-time Short Track Shootout champion Kyle Keller of Las Vegas recovered from two flat tires to finish third. Cole Moore and Eric Schmidt, both former Roseville champions, rounded out the top-five. Reyna salvaged seventh.

Dylan Zampa of Napa led all 100 laps of the CARS Tour West Limited Late Model 100 from the pole position, but faced off with 10-time 2026 Roseville winner Kenna Mitchell of Loomis in the closing stages of the fast-paced race. The duo have over 40 Roseville Late Model wins and six Late Model track championships between them.

Mitchell started tenth and methodically worked through the pack, racing into fifth on lap 18 and up into second by lap 33. A competition caution on lap 48 erased Zampa’s advantage, but he rebuilt the lead over the next green flag run. A caution flew on lap 80 which gave Mitchell another look at Zampa. Zampa initiatially charged away but Mitchell reeled him back in. The two raced bumper-to-bumper to the checkered flag with Zampa claiming the win and the big trophy. 2025 Kern champion Tanner Huddleston finished third followed by Nash Youngren and Donald Witkowski.

“This wasn’t on our schedule in the beginning of the year. This car’s been in storage for about nine months. It unloaded just like the last two times we were here, close to perfect. I knew Kenna was there and I could feel her the whole time,” Zampa said. “This is our home track. It’s always so good to us."

“It was a real fun race. Working up from tenth and then getting to his bumper. I feel good about it,” Mitchell said.

Rocklin’s Robby Czub won the 30-lap INEX Legends feature as part of both Roseville points and the Franks Radio CARS Tour West. The victory paid $1,000. Incoming points leader Rick Andersen of North Highlands spun in turn two and was hit hard by Barret Sugden, ending both of their races. A multi-car incident on lap 26 saw Cameron Hutchinson make significant contact with the backstretch wall. Chad Nascimento pitted for a flight right front tire as well.

Czub paced the final laps to lead CARS Tour West points leader Logan Chambers of Bakersfield at the finish. Turlock’s Antonio Gonzales, the Madera points leader, finished third followed by Braden Judge. Nascimento recovered to finish fifth and claim the 2026 All American Speedway INEX Legends championship.

Championship leaders and contenders continued to face issues in the other main events on Saturday night as well. NASCAR Mini Stocks saw incoming points leader Vic Theberge of Citrus Heights spin with a flat tire on lap 12 to bring out a caution. Theberge was able to rejoin the race but lost a lap in the process.

2025 champion John Sproule outfoxed multi-time champion and 2026 hopeful Ray Molina over the course of the 30-lap feature, taking a narrow victory. Incoming third in points Brandon Frantz of Lincoln finished third. Vikki Theberge and Richard Rowland rounded out the top-five.

The NASCAR Modifieds were without three-time champion and current points leader Tyler Wentworth, placing second in points Jose Hernandez into a great position to challenge for the title. Hernandez led the first 26-laps of the feature while Josh Blackwood of Loomis worked through the pack and reeled in Hernandez. The pair banged wheels down the backstretch with Hernandez slamming hard into the turn three wall to end his event.

Blackwood capitalized, inheriting the lead and driving to the victory. 17-year-old Jayden Williams finished second in his division debut with Don Shalla of Sacramento rounding out the podium finishers.

Multi-time NASCAR Street Stock champion Josh Whitfield fended off Groveland’s Sam Reynolds for the 30-lap feature win. Defending champion and 2026 points leader Tim Walters fell out of the event early with a flat tire, giving way for Whitfield to take the victory. Daren Prociw of Folsom finished third.

Up next for All American Speedway is the 28th running of the NAPA Auto Parts 150 for the NASCAR / ARCA Menards Series, West on Saturday September 5th. They will be joined by championship night for the speedway with titles up for grabs in the NASCAR Berco Redwood Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks. Saturday’s event also serves as Hall of Fame Night with Bill McAnally and Jim Miller being honored during Opening Ceremonies. Tickets and info at www.allamericanspeedway.com
