Viola Backroad Rumble and the 22nd English Creek Speedway Nationals 🏁

Wow - definitely a week we won’t forget!

ViolaBoyz Backroad Speedway - Box stock - 29 karts total
Qualifying: 1st
Heat: p4 - p3
Feature: p2 - p1

After months of trial and error, many late shop nights after working all day, we were able to pull off a first place win at one of the biggest events all year against a stacked field of kids! He remained p2 most of the feature race, until his buddy Daxx had some bad luck 16 laps in - which allowed us to take the lead and bring home 1st place.
Fun fact: this was Pless power’s 20th national win with one of his motors! Fitting for Wyatt being #20!

English Creek Speedway - Box stock - 42 karts 🤯
Qualifying: 2nd
Heat: p1 - p1
Dash: p2 - p2
Feature: p2 - p2

This has always been a tough one for us, as we don’t race here often and actually hadn’t made it up all year. Last year we didn’t even make it out of the B main and our driver was super hard on himself over it. Dad & Wyatt were on their A game both days this year though - securing 2nd in qualifying, 1st in his heat, 2nd in the dash, and 2nd in the feature!

Congratulations to Carson Sanders Racing for 2nd and Ryker Lopez-Beck for 3rd at the Backroad rumble, and to Thomas Mullins Racing on your Nationals win and DHRacing for 3rd at English Creek!

Another great night of racing at ViolaBoyz Backroad Speedway this past Saturday! There were 19 total karts checked in for the box stock class, as most people are getting things dialed in for nationals coming up.

Wyatt had a low pill draw, which put him starting first in his first heat and dead last in his second. He went p1 - p1 in the first heat and went p7 - p3 in the second heat. We were lucky to get a caution late in the second heat race that allowed Wyatt to get under the p3 kart and work his way to reeling in the p2 kart.

His heat race results put him starting 3rd in the feature. There’s really no room for error when the kids surrounding you are just as fast, focused, and determined to win. With that being said, patience was our goal. Make a clean pass, at the right time, even if it takes you half the race to get there, and don’t put yourself or anyone else in a bad spot. Wyatt had to battle it out for second place with his buddy Randy, and it wasn’t an easy feat. It took him numerous tries and a handful of laps to get there, even throwing a slider and getting passed right back 😂 we ended up finishing the night p2! Congratulations to DHRacing on 1st and Randy’s Racing on 3rd!

Late, uneventful race recap from Spoon River Speedway - Kart Track:

We started the day off getting a flat tire on the trailer on the way to the track. 🥲 the heats were based off pill draw, so Wyatt started p4 in the first heat. He made it up to second place but was having a hard time steering and was losing speed each lap. Luckily he was able to keep his position and finished p2. During the feature, he bent the rear sprocket guard and popped the chain off and didn’t get to make a lap or finish the race.

Wyatt was also able to get some practice driving his 125!

Not the best results, but it happens! We were glad to get some practice laps in and get our 125 figured out.

Friday & Saturday night the 2026 Firecracker Shootout at ViolaBoyz Backroad Speedway:

Friday BP Wing - 15 karts
Heat 1: p1 - p1
Heat 2: p5 - p4
Feature: 8th - p2

We did well in our first heat but had a hard time passing and keeping his position in the second heat, which put him starting 8th in the feature. He managed to stay out of wrecks/cautions and slowly worked his way up to get a 2nd place finish in the feature race! (Fridays race was postponed after the second heat races due to the weather, so we finished up on Saturday)

Saturday BP Nonwing - 16 karts
Heat 1: p4 - p1
Heat 2: p2 - p2
Dash: p1 - p2
Feature: p2 - p2

Whew- this was such a long night. Hot laps started around 9 pm. His heats went well enough to put us in the top 6 for the dash. They did a Highlimit-like dash and let the kids spin the wheel for their starting position - so cool and Wyatt was thrilled to spin the 0! He finished 2nd in the dash and started and finished 2nd in the feature. It was a tough group of kids to race against, and good completion all around him, so he had to hit his marks every time. He even came home with a little bit of cash 🤪
