SAA Track & Field Invitational

SAA Track & Field Invitational Sacramento Adventist Academy Track & Field Invitational 2010-2015. Photos of past meets, documents, and current school records. It's a fun and unique experience.

This page governs the Sacramento Adventist Academy Track & Field Invitational. The ver first meet occured on Sunday, April 25, 2010. The next is scheduled for Sunday, April 10, 2011. Because many of our Christian schools have had to cut T&F from their budget, this effort was lead out by parents (lead by David Westcott) and was supported by the staff. For almost all of our athletes, this event is t

he only time they get to officially competed in track and field! SAA uses Roseville High School's high tech urethane track and leading edge facilities. The experience is wonderful for the athletes and spectators. This Facebook community was setup to share photos and experiences.

April 26, 2015 marked the 6th Annual SAA Track & Field Invitational. This multi-school track meet was a little smaller this year but MANY records were broken today! There was a strong turnout from SAA, PUC, and several athletes from Orangevale. This meet was started by parents and although the schools have gotten on board with the support, parents still help significantly with coaching the athletes, running the meet (with professional guidance), and financially supporting the event.

4/26/15 The athletes start to gather for a pre-meet devotional.

There were a LOT of meet records broken today! Even a few long-standing school records!

Coaches can have a huge impact on not only their players, but the community as well.

Today's 5th annual track meet was a great success! MANY meet records were broken, even "smashed," as were some school records (especially Ukiah who had no school records--so they were making them in every event they ran).
This year's meet was more expensive than in prior years, but the parents pulled together today and donated $1300 to meet the costs!
David Westcott has been the organizer of this event every year and this year is supposed to be his last official year of running it. The parent leaders and school officials got together today and, unknownst to David, decided to rename the event the SAA Westcott Track Field Invitational. This announcement brought cheers from the crowd. THANK YOU to the whole Westcott family for donating so much of your time to ensuring our athletes have the opportunity to experience track & field, to test themselves, and to challenge long-standing school records.
David would be the first person to remind everyone that this was a TEAM effort and could not have been pulled off every year without dozens of parents and volunteer faculty helping the athletes train, organizing the meet itself, creating posters, making announcements, and running the meet itself.

Here is information for this coming Sunday.

Location is Roseville High School, Way, Roseville, CA. Should be easy to find with GPS or Google maps. The track is around to the left and at the back of the school.

Time to arrive is 9am to give time for sign ups, instructions, devotional, and stretching for a 10am start of events. The schedule of events is attached. Ignore the date of 2011; there are no changes to the times.

Suncreen and water provided but feel free to bring your own. Food and drinks will be sold by the SAA senior class as a fund raiser. Hot dogs, potato salad, etc.

Cleats up to 1/4 inch and designed for the synthetic all-weather rubber track are allowed.

Records for both the Meet and for SAA are attached.

I am still working on volunteer assignments. I will send that to the adults probably tomorrow evening. We need more volunteers! It takes over 30 of us so please tell me by return email if you can help!

We would like to ask each guest school attending to offer a volunteer to help with finish line judging. Not only do we need the help but it helps everyone feel confident that we have been fair to all the kids.

Schools that we are expecting to join us are Rio Lindo Academy, PUC Prep, PUC Elementary and Orangevale.

If I have forgotten anything or if you have questions, just let me know.

Thank you. It will be fun!

The track and field practice this Sunday will be at American River College, 4700 College Oak Drive, which is at the corner of Winding Way and College Oak about half way between SAA and Carmichael church.
This will allow us to practice on a regulation track and jump pit. Relay teams-this is the time for that all important practice!
See you there at 9am!
