Today's 5th annual track meet was a great success! MANY meet records were broken, even "smashed," as were some school records (especially Ukiah who had no school records--so they were making them in every event they ran).
This year's meet was more expensive than in prior years, but the parents pulled together today and donated $1300 to meet the costs!
David Westcott has been the organizer of this event every year and this year is supposed to be his last official year of running it. The parent leaders and school officials got together today and, unknownst to David, decided to rename the event the SAA Westcott Track Field Invitational. This announcement brought cheers from the crowd. THANK YOU to the whole Westcott family for donating so much of your time to ensuring our athletes have the opportunity to experience track & field, to test themselves, and to challenge long-standing school records.
David would be the first person to remind everyone that this was a TEAM effort and could not have been pulled off every year without dozens of parents and volunteer faculty helping the athletes train, organizing the meet itself, creating posters, making announcements, and running the meet itself.
