Perception, in simple terms, is the way you view/understand the environment around you. Every individual can view one event differently.
Why is that? Well it comes down to a few different key factors. Your:
Psychological (childhood/adulthood development, why/how you think, etc)
Social (who raised you, who you hang around, how you interact with those people)
Biological aspects (do you have a history of mental illness in your family? Do you have a physical ailment, etc)
Sociocultural (where you live, small/big towns or cities, etc)
It’s hard once you’ve experienced life in a certain way for so long to suddenly try to view a situation or event differently. But if you try to reframe your perspective, as in not focusing on only the negative but putting more positive or neutral spin on your situation, using gratitude or positive thinking (even if it doesn’t feel natural) can help shift your perspective. “Yes, today sucked, but I thought that the sunrise looked beautiful” or “Today I achieved a lot, I need to acknowledge that.”
Perspective is a powerful tool and with small changes, you can take control of your thoughts and feelings to help make your day or week just a bit better than the last.
As always, take care of yourselves, be kind, be patient, and have a good week ☺️ - Chloe, Grizzly Wautoma Trainer
