In Irish tradition, the root of the Blackthorn tree would be harvested to make a walking stick or more commonly known in Ireland as a “Shillelagh”. The process was almost a year of conditioning, drying and curing to increase strength and durability. Some would hollow out the k**b end of the stick and fill it with molten lead. This was dubbed a “loaded stick” and used as a rather

effective discreet weapon. We, as people, are like the Blackthorn tree pictured in our profile, natural, wild, and formed by our environment. Although strong in our natural state, through devoted conditioning, strengthening, and guidance from experienced hands we also are molded into weapons not identified from our outward appearance.
