NEXT STOP: HAWKEYE DOWNS SPEEDWAY

There are racetracks, and then there are racetracks that become part of racing history.

Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is one of those places.

Dating back to 1925, Hawkeye Downs is one of the oldest continuously operating racetracks in the United States. Originally opened as Frontier Park, the facility quickly became a staple of Midwest motorsports before eventually becoming known as Hawkeye Downs. Over the last century, generations of racers, fans, and families have walked through its gates and helped create a racing tradition that continues today.

Throughout its history, Hawkeye Downs has welcomed some of the biggest names in short-track racing. The facility spent decades as one of Iowa's premier dirt tracks before transitioning to asphalt racing in the late 1980s. Since then, the track has hosted countless touring series, weekly divisions, and special events while producing champions and future NASCAR stars along the way.

What makes Hawkeye Downs special isn't just the history. It's the atmosphere.

The covered grandstands, the half-mile oval, the passionate fan base, and the blue-collar racing culture all represent what grassroots racing is supposed to be. It is a place where racing families have spent generations competing, where young drivers learn their craft, and where longtime fans continue to support the sport, they love.

That connection to grassroots racing is exactly why Hawkeye Downs and the Mid-Am Racing Series fit so well together.

For more than three decades, Mid-Am Racing has been built around the same values that tracks like Hawkeye Downs represent β€” affordable racing, hard-working teams, driver-first competition, and preserving the spirit of traditional short-track racing. While the sport continues to evolve, both Hawkeye Downs and The Mid Am Racing Series have remained committed to keeping the focus on the racers, the fans, and the communities that support them.

Every time the Mid-Am Racing Series visits Hawkeye Downs, it is more than just another race on the schedule. It is an opportunity to compete at one of the Midwest's most historic facilities and to add another chapter to a story that has been unfolding for more than 100 years.

For some drivers, it will be their first chance to race at this legendary facility. For others, it will be another opportunity to compete at a track that has played an important role in Midwest racing history.

Either way, when the green flag drops, another chapter will be written at one of America's most historic short tracks.

And Mid-Am Racing is proud to be part of that story.

Twenty-one Mid-Am Racing Series competitors took the green flag for the Clubfoot Solutions 50-lap feature at Plymouth Speedway, with Kevin Murphy in the #427 and Scotty Gardner in the #13 leading the field to green.

As the race unfolded, Murphy established himself as the driver to beat, but the battle behind him remained intense throughout the event. Kellen Arnold III worked his way forward from his sixth-place starting position and steadily closed the gap to the leader as the laps wound down.

When the checkered flag flew, it was Kevin Murphy driving the #427 to victory after 50 laps of competition. Arnold crossed the line just 0.374 seconds behind in second, while Dan Calhoun brought home a strong third-place finish.

Cameron Vandermeer advanced from his eighth-place starting spot to finish fourth, with Cody Clubb rounding out the top five.

Congratulations to Kevin Murphy and his entire team on an outstanding performance and feature race victory at Plymouth Speedway!

Thank you to all of our drivers, teams, fans, officials, and the staff at Plymouth Speedway for another great night of Mid-Am Racing Series competition.
