Today I tested my Senior Solo Free Dance and I PASSED! I’m so excited to have finally finished a track I started years ago. I’m also so excited to finally have my second Gold Medal! Hopefully, there will be more to come 😊👏🏻 On to the next one!

This video is the demonstration of three different levels of spins. In there are three basic spin positions: Upright, Camel and Sit. There are numerous variations of all of the spin positions, however they all stem from these three.

The layback spin is an intermediate level spin in that it’s a variation of an upright spin, however the arch in the back and the lifted leg are slightly more difficult to achieve.

The Deathdrop sounds awful 😂 but it is a variation of a flying spin which is on the more advanced scale of spinning. Flying spins are classified by having some sort of “fly” or jump in them, either from one foot to the other like this one, or jumping off of and landing on the same foot to continue the spin. Again, there are plenty of different kinds of flying spins, I just really like this one!

What spin or spins are you working on?

Here’s a skeleton of a new program I’m working on for my Senior Solo Freedance test. It’s not quite done, and I’ve got some work to do but I’m LOVING how it’s turning out! 🎵 Fire on Fire by Sam Smith

5 months out of surgery and my ankle has never felt better! I’ve slowly been working on some basics and this week I got my axel back! I’m super happy with the progress I’ve made both mentally and physically.

I haven’t always loved or been good at salchows, however after a lot of trial and error I ended up preferring the back 3-turn entrance to the forward 3-turn entrance.

I’ve been thinking a lot about if I’m going to try to jump again after my ankle is fully recovered, and quite honestly I’m torn. I love the feeling of landing a jump, I’m just getting to a point where I don’t know that the benefits outweigh the risk of injury.

Either way, I love having videos of myself doing things well, especially something I know I struggled with and it’s fun to share as I reflect on my skating career.

Do you have an element that you’ve conquered?

Started my morning with the bike and a modified leg workout to get my muscles ready to walk again! It was a great way to start my day.

2 weeks ago I wouldn’t have thought I would already be here. At 4 weeks I still wasn’t weight bearing, and now at 5.5 weeks, I’m beginning to walk again.

Each and every day I’m a little bit stronger and am able to do a little bit more. I’m still itching to get my skates on, but hopefully that will come soon. For now, I will be working on strengthening all of my muscles that haven’t been worked, and keep working towards the end goal of a strong and healthy ankle 😊🎉💪🏻

Another one of my favorites, a layback spin!

I did this one with an illusion entrance (the very beginning where my head goes low and my foot goes high).

I stopped competing in singles before the new IJS system was in place, so my spins never required a “level” - they were based on ex*****on and the requirement of the level I was in.

It’s so fascinating now watching the many different variations of each position and seeing all the different levels awarded.

What do you think of this spin?

Today I want to share one of my favorite fun elements: A split falling leaf 😊

This element is one of my favorites because it makes me feel like I’m soaring through the air!

To learn this element you’d first start by learning a basic falling leaf. From there you work on the speed and quickness of the jump to give you time to pop up and split in the air.

Do you have a favorite split type element?
