Cherokee finished second in both the boys’ and girls’ standings at the Matt Newton/Anna Cooper Memorial track meet on Thursday, March 26 at Tennessee High School and continued its assault

CHIEFSXC athletes Kenady Deal, Aniyah Bandy, and Elin Bryan along with Cherokee Track & Field standout Elizabeth Coward recently broke the school record in the DMR (distance relay medley). The legs were ran as follows: 1200m Bryan, 400m Coward, 800m Bandy, & 1600m Deal. The previous record was 14:59.51. The DMR team ran a 14:07.01, lowering the previous record by an impressive 42 seconds. Sub 14 is in sight for this young group.

CHSXC athletes Brayden Brown and Travis Wade along with Cherokee Track & Field athletes Zander Harris and Lofton Hayes recently broke the school record in the DMR (distance relay medley) by over 30 seconds. The legs were ran as follows: 1200m Wade, 400m Hayes, 800m Harris, & 1600m Brown. The previous record was 12:41.19. The new record is now established at 12:06.92. Sub 11 is in their sights.

CHSXC runner Kenady Deal along with athletes Elizabeth Coward, Lyric Wilson and Rylee Sivert recently broke the CHSTF 4x400m school record posting a time of 4:19.74 in their 1st attempt. The previous record of 4:22.83 had been held since 1990. Deal, Wilson, & Sivert along with XC athlete Anna Mae Boyd were part of the RCSTF State Championship 4x400m team that holds the TMSAA State Championship record as well as meet record. We can’t wait to witness the progression of this group.

CHEROKEEXC would like to congratulate multi-sport athletes Kenady Deal and Addie Lawson on their recent Twin Lakes Conference accolades. Deal is now a Twin Lakes All Conference & All Section D1 Class A performer in XC as well as Twin Lakes Conference Co-Underclassman of the Year in basketball. While Lawson in her 1st year running XC was part of the Lady Chief’s XC Conference Championship team and a Twin Lakes All Conference Selection in basketball.

Mariam has been a two sport athlete during her 3 years at Cherokee in Cross County & Track & Field. Mariam is also a dedicated student in the classroom maintaining a 4.0 GPA and is an excellent student-athlete to represent Cherokee High School. CHIEFSXC➡️CHIEFSTF it’s time to transition to the track for our XC athletes. The girl’s program consisting Mariam Elkammash, Jessabella Allen, Julina Allen, & Elin Bryan got to experience indoor track at Vanderbilt University this past weekend, competing in the DMR (distance relay medley: 1200m, 400m, 800m, & 1600m). What a great opportunity… now it’s time to prepare for outdoor. Lets work!!!
