Outdoor GEARWORKS is a outdoor gear repair company that specializes in high quality outdoor gear, leather and saddle Repair such as North Face, Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear or Devoucoux, Forestier, Ciricle D and McCall Wade. Outdoor GEARWORKS comes from a family tradition of professional cobbler’s and repairmen dating back to 1905. My Great-Uncle Carl, began his shoe repair business, Walter’s
Boot and Shoe Repair, after serving in WWII. During those early days, Carl's younger brother Clarence (my grandfather) began working with Carl learning the skills of the trade and art of repair. Clarence, upon returning from the Korean Conflict, established his business in California. Aaron (my father) being raised in the trade as a young apprentice, acquired the skills and honed the art of repair to continue on the family shoe repair business. My place in this family tradition takes a slightly different path. While growing up around the shop as a child, my father taught me the joys of fly fishing, ski/ snowboarding and exploring the outdoors every chance I got. When I was ready to move out on my own, I began explore the western part of the United States, ranging from Idaho to Colorado as a professional rafting guide and to Wyoming and Montana working as a cowboy, hunting guide and horse packer. While on all my trips and adventures I realized importance of the great, reliable gear that we saved our hard working money to purchase. Some of us use the same piece of gear for years and years, each piece holding years of stories. Others buy great gear and put it to the test, police, fire, military and extreme outdoorsmen/ outdoors women. But now that great gear is stuffed into the back closet or under a table in the garage all because one piece of equipment was broken. I have taken the same skills my great uncle on through my father have taught me and applied them to gear repair, establishing Outdoor GEARWORKS. My business began as customizing holsters and repairing gear for family and friends, when I discovered there no one out there to repair it at the same high quality that it was bought at, especially IN THE SOUTHEAST. Whether it be western/ English saddles and equestrian equipment, buckle broken, webbing worn through or a busted zipper. Outdoor GEARWORKS’ mission is to recycle/ revive great gear and put you and your gear back in the great outdoors where it belongs.
