Always good to see you out there.
Always.
This is from the best trail race in the south, Saturdayās War Eagle 25k. Admittedly, I went into this race undertrained. Life has been lifing so hard the past couple of months, and because of this lifing, I also went in with a heavy heart.
It didnāt help that this was the first time Iāve run this race since passed away. He has a spot on the course and passing that spot started stirring up some emotion. Other people weāve lost the past couple of years began entering my mind as well. I was able to keep my emotions in check until I entered the Piney aid station where my friends were working. I walked by everyone and sat down, and thatās when the flood gates opened up.
Iāve said it before, but if youāve never gotten emotional on a run, youāre doing it wrong. I didnāt expect this run to be cathartic, but Iām glad it was.
Thank you to for jingling my bells and for for the Coke!
Thank you to the NoWAB crew, especially and , for being my ears at the aid station!
Thank you to Angie Smallwood for pushing me through a small stretch and giving me the motivation I needed to finish strong!
And a big thank you to , , and for another amazing race!
