We're a family owned and operated roller skating rink serving third and fourth generation families in Rocky Mount, NC. Vernon and Pauline Holder built and opened Sky-Vue Skateland to huge crowds and great fan fair in September 1958. It was their dream project to provide the citizens of Rocky Mount and the surrounding communities with wholesome, family fun. The tradition continues today as their children and second generation owners, David Holder and Denise Watkins, carry the torch for the local icon. The rink features an original hardwood skating surface, fleet of rental skates, audio sound and light show, concessions, redemption games, retail novelty, and pro shop sales. Sky-Vue Skateland specializes in public skating, birthday party celebrations, school events, community events, group and organization outings, fundraisers, and all new innovative STEM education field trip for schools and youth organizations. We have over 30 years experience in teaching beginners how to roller skate. Roller skating is a life long activity providing health benefits for all ages. Come skate with us today! But some things at Sky-Vue never go out of style.

Rolling around the floor with your friends.
Trying to win the skating game.
Laughing when somebody almost loses their balance.
Hearing your favorite song come over the speakers.
And saying, “Just one more skate!”

For 68 years, roller skating has given families a place to simply have fun together.

And on September 19, we’re doing it all over again.

Years from now, they may not remember every gift they received…but they’ll remember the places you went together and the fun you shared.

One of the things we treasure most about Sky-Vue is seeing one generation introduce roller skating to the next.

Children who once skated here grew up, became parents, and brought their own children through our doors. Today, some are even bringing grandchildren.

That’s what 68 years looks like.

It isn’t just the building or the skating floor. It’s the people and the memories that have filled this rink generation after generation.

Remember when getting someone’s phone number meant finding a pencil and a piece of paper?

📝☎️ Back in the late ’90s and early 2000s, our skaters would come to the ticket office and ask, “Do you have a piece of paper and a pencil?” They needed it to write down a friend’s phone number! So we made a little “Phone Number Station” box where they could help themselves.

😂 No cell phones. No texting. No screenshots. Just a pencil, a scrap of paper, and hoping you didn’t lose it before you got home! ❤️ Oh, the memories!
