Camio Fitness

Camio Fitness The happiest time in my life was when I rediscovered health and fitness. It all started with a few home workouts and a few words of encouragement.

Since starting Camio Fitness, the motivation for propelling others has come naturally. We tend to think that once we become adults, we will somehow find our niche and live happily ever after. I can proudly say, at the age of 23, I have found mine and could not be any happier. I am a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I develop simple, yet complex, pe

rsonalized fitness programs for each and every client, that is guaranteed to show results in 30 days. I am a firm believer that with the correct nutrition, dieting and coach by your side, the possibilities are endless!

Are you being effected by depression or know of someone who is? Chances are, you do. Many of us tend to mask our issues and in turn avoid addressing the root cause(s). When we become depressed, we usually want to close ourselves off from society and shut down. We tend to look for temporary solutions, i.e. drinking and/or smoking. It allows us to escape our reality and not have to be in the moment. The mere thought of having to bear the load of dealing with looking ourselves in the mirror is dreadful. It’s much easier to reach for a bottle to ease the pain and forget about what got us here in the first place..
Your environment plays a huge role in determining whether or not you will see yourself out of this depression. It is crucial that you pay close attention and change your behavior, sleep, nutrition, fitness & influences. This isn’t something you get over one miraculous day after doing absolutely nothing. Really take the time to look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, ā€œwhat got me here?ā€. So many of us tend to brush off our traumas that we’ve encountered as though they will magically disappear one day. Self-reflect and re connect with those closest to you. You don’t have to fight this depression alone, but you do it have to be the one to initiate the fight. Take your life back one day at a time.

Would you agree with the notion that performance dictates your self worth? We tend to base our value on how we perform on a daily basis. This way of thinking has lead us to heavily critique our every move. It’s not to say that you shouldn’t set goals or want to do good for ourselves, it just goes to show that we aren’t focusing on the right things.
We are constantly bombarded with content that makes us believe we are not doing enough. In turn, as a reaction we begin to ā€œshouldā€ all over ourselves. What I mean by that is our internal dialogue becomes, ā€œI should attain more in order to obtain this or thatā€. It is a never ending cycle..
When the mind frame revolves around having to become better constantly, the ability to be in the present becomes that much harder. How can one’s anxiety stay at bay when the voice in our head is constantly trying to beat us down with our own self doubts and criticisms..
Learning to re wire the way we interpret information is vital in the way we cope with our anxiety. If we question our evaluations vs stating them, it gives way for us to view it and interpret it from a different perspective. Also, learning to observe vs react will prove to be pivotal when the time presents itself. When you observe your surroundings it gives the mind a moment to process all the chaos vs when you react; it causes the mind to end up in a frenzy. Hence, leaving you in an anxious state of mind. Refer to these tools the next time you feel anxious. This here was inspired and brought to you my mentor,

The consists of various muscles that are interconnected via fascia. The overall purpose of the SFL is to create flexion on the trunk, hips, knee extension and dorsiflexion (upward motion) of the foot. Keep in mind each of the muscles intertwined within this line of fascia each have a primary, secondary & terciary function. If even one muscle is not functioning as it should, you in turn lose the tensegrity throughout the body. In my case, I felt my trunk (torso) and hips ā€œstuckā€ in flexion. Though the SFL was intended for this purpose, it is not to say it should remain flexed. Due to a fixated tibialis anterior (located beside shin bone) the ability for me to shift my weight in an efficient manner hindered my performance. Along with many more distinctions of mine, this was one of the more prevalent ones. There is much more that meets the eye when examining movement. I myself still have much to learn as the body itself is very much complicated to the say the least. I must admit, its fun to self analyze and have trusted peers examine and critique your movement.

The famous ā€œpull, counterā€. Such subtle draw back, yet done with such ease and precision. Master at work..
Telegraphing his opponents punches and baiting them with his chin out and guard down for a beautiful pay off. Analyzing and attempting to break down his every movement is a task in itself. Easy to watch, but to replicate to the tee isn’t the easiest..
Sorry for the poorly taken footage, but here you see me at the end take a crack at it. As I went through the motions, the pull didn’t feel clean and almost as though I was being held down. Based off of what I felt, my and prevented me from being able to fully execute. Whether it be that my muscles are fixated in the wrong direction or calcification? Only time will tell. I will elaborate on the next few post about the superficial front and deep front line to give those who maybe unfamiliar a better understanding.

Teaching my boy the fundamentals. Giving him pointers as we go along, but just enough to not overwhelm him. I firmly hit on the gloves to firmly remind him to keep his guard up at all times. At the end you hear him laugh when I hit him with the mitt for not keeping his hand up. It thrills me to know his first reaction isn’t to get upset because with time and through repetitions it will become second nature to remain calm, cool and collected. Nothing more dangerous than a man who can stay calm in the midst of chaos.

Some more šŸ”„ from the homie regarding boxing..
Working basic boxing steps with the master from and our team here at .
What we did is we integrated a basic back step with a bicep curl to showcase how the body can use momentum or summation of forces to translate to faster footsteps and punches.
As you step back and punch the opposite arm needs to help you move backwards and still be able to get an effective punch thrown. We used a couple dumbbells and a bicep curl to show how this can be done.
For the move with the weights what you want to do is to make sure that your timing is right and you want to try and not feel the bicep working alone. It should feel like a full body integration. A little lateral flexion and a little trunk rotation is wanted as you move backwards so you minimize the time spent between the origin and insertion of the biceps.
Give this a try if you are into boxing and let us know how it felt. We have more videos like this one for you.
In this video is performing the moves a person that I have a lot of respect for and a person that has came a long way in terms of health and awareness. Not to mention Aly has been to every single course we have given here and abroad in relation to biomechanics so he has a broad idea of how the body operates.

Jab, step back, jab, shovel hook. Beautiful display by . Though the shovel hook did not land, it’s what made me edit this clip out of his most recent fight..
Take a moment to see how he turns his entire body into the hook from the ground up. He readjusts himself, plants his lead foot, pivots off of his back foot, hip follows for more power and throws the hook from waist level..
I wanted to elaborate and break down his movements because if you click on the previous post, you’ll see how that exercise carries much correlation with his movements. Now it of course is not identical, but I am driving off the ball of my back and rotating my hip and driving the force in an upward motion. The exercise posted yesterday and can be altered to mimic this exact movement. Boxing

Inspired by one of exercises for the arm lines. Decided to give it a go with a slight variation in the foot placement. Not only did I feel this light up my arms lines, but also my lateral and spiral lines. An exercise that respects our biological blue print and respects the way we walk and run..
I felt my psoas lengthening at the end of the overhead barbell press when I would drive off the ball of my back foot and raise the barbell higher. Definitely start off light with no weights to get a feel for it first. Very taxing on the body to say the least..
I will make post explaining more about the spiral, arm and lateral lines so that all this jargon makes sense lol

More that meets the eye when performing a kettlebell swing. Here I am using a light resistance band to serve as a feedback mechanism to prevent my knees from shifting back and forth. Attempting to keep them fixated throughout the entire exercise. I also used the band to ensure I felt the tension in my hamstrings and glutes vs solely my quads. The exercise does not require much weight as the parabolic motion of the kettlebell will serve as one of the determining factors of whether or not the exercise can be executed properly. Give it a try and tell me what you think šŸ˜Ž

Felt good to just run and test my gait. I haven’t ran full speed in months or even recorded it for that matter. My body paid for it the following day. Completely sore, but felt good because I felt sore in the right places. Even though I could feel certain restrictions during my run, it felt great to know what needs to be worked on. I think my daughter thought I would actually let her win šŸ˜šŸ˜‚

We at SYZYGY are very happy to announce that we will be holding our first course of our NeMA Seminar in Berlin Germany on March the 15th thru the 19th. In this seminar, we will be covering everything from the Naval down which includes specific anatomy and physiology of the lumbar spine, pelvis, hip, the knee and all of the joints of the foot.

We will also teach you how to do a specific assessment of the mentioned areas and how to integrate the results to identify the most relevant dysfunctions.

After assessing the problem, we will give you the most effective treatment techniques to mobilize restricted joints areas and dense fascia tissue.

Then once we released and mobilized the mentioned areas we will show you the most relevant exercises in the field of functional training so you can teach your client pain free movement and prepare them for all kinds of activities and sports by optimizing their biomechanics. Hope to see you there!
