The perfect kayak rod combo! St. Croix Mojo Yak 7’ 3/8-3/4 oz Med-Hvy paired with a Daiwa BG MQ 2500 may just be the most versatile kayak rod setup on the market. Whether you’re fishing freshwater or saltwater this rod can handle just about anything. Since most freshwater largemouth bass lures are approx 3/8 oz and up you’ll have no trouble throwing chatter baits, frogs, senkos, small to medium size swim baits etc. As far as saltwater, this is a great setup for bucktailing fluke, trolling SP minnows for stripers and blues or jigging blackfish. The short butt section allows you room to paddle or pedal your kayak and also doesn’t interfere with your PFD when fighting fish. I personally have this exact rod combo and it’s one of my most versatile setups. I absolutely love the Daiwa BG MQ 2500 on this rod, it’s tough enough to handle just about anything and small enough to not be in the way when fishing from kayak. Just received a delivery of St. Croix rods today. Here is two examples of very popular rods that we sell regularly. 7’ 5/8 oz Triumph & Avid series perfect for freshwater fishing Long Island lakes and ponds or ultralight saltwater fishing for inshore species such as fluke, striped bass and blues. I personally own the 7’ Avid, I’ve had it several years and absolutely love it. It’s the most sensitive rod I’ve ever used and I highly recommend it. If you watch some of my YouTube fluke fishing videos you will see me using this rod.

Tired of losing expensive bucktails at the reef? With bucktails jIgs costing more and more every year, Tsunami ball head jigs are a great alternative and will save you approximately 25% of the cost when compared to bucktail jigs. These are available in various sizes and colors and include three barbs to hold your Gulp securely. They also feature an extra long shank hook to prevent short strikes. Also with their hairless streamlined design, they get down to the bottom faster which means less line scope and you can maintain contact with the bottom using less weight for more realistic presentation.
