Today marks the anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6th, 1944. It remains one of the largest amphibious military operations in history and marked a major turning point in World War II.
More than 150,000 Allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy under intense resistance, with thousands losing their lives during the operation. The scale of planning, coordination, and sacrifice involved is difficult to comprehend even today.
To put that into perspective, it would be like deploying twice the population of Rocklin, California into a single military operation in one day. D-Day remains one of history’s greatest examples of large-scale coordination, logistical brilliance, and determination under immense pressure.
