**PRESS RELEASE** - The Rockford Reapers, proud members of Ladies American Football (LAF), are pleased to announce that Damonte Reed will serve as the team's General Manager for the inaugural 2022 season.
A Rockford native and lifelong resident, Reed went to Guilford High School, where he was a standout defensive back and running back for the Vikings football team, being named to the All-Conference Team three times as well as making it to the State Championships for track and field. After graduating in 2016, Reed played college football for the Sterling College Warriors in the NAIA, winning the 2017 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship.
In addition to his own athletic expertise, Reed also currently works with the Rockford Park District, serving as an Outreach Athletic Coordinator, helping to supervise and manage the district's flag football and basketball leagues as well as teach the fundamentals of sport throughout the community.
"What drew me to the Reapers has been the same thing that's been driving me since high school; the opportunity to give back to my community," Reed stated in an interview. "Different people have different gifts, and mine just so happens to be sports. Coming from an athletic family, I am honored to be using my gift to serve the Rockford community once again, and will make sure the Reapers become an integral part of the city's rich sports culture."
The Reapers plan to announce their logo, head coach and initial tryout dates in the coming weeks. For more information, contact Reapers GM Damonte Reed by phone at (815)-494-3939 or by e-mail at [email protected]. Or contact the LAF by phone at (712)-592-0676 or by e-mail at [email protected].
