We’re excited to welcome Gerardo Ortiz from Dallas, Texas to the Augustana Wrestling family! Gerardo made the most of his wrestling career, finishing his senior season with an impressive 34-8 record. He earned runner-up finishes at two of Texas’ top tournaments—the Arlington Cougar Classic and the Bill Neer Tournament—while serving as team captain and helping lead Thomas Jefferson’s varsity program.

Off the mat, Gerardo graduated with High Honors, demonstrating the same commitment to excellence in the classroom that he showed on the mat. We’re excited to add Gerardo’s leadership, work ethic, and competitive spirit to the Blue & Gold.

We’re excited to welcome Zion Vasquez from San Benito, Texas to the Augustana Wrestling family! Zion built a strong high school career as a 2x District Champion, 2x Regional Qualifier, and State Qualifier. A 2x Team MVP and Newcomer of the Year recipient, he consistently demonstrated the dedication and competitiveness that helped lead his team.

We’re excited to welcome Judah Kramer from Pine, Colorado to the Augustana Wrestling family! Judah put together an outstanding high school career as a 2x State Qualifier, 2x Regional Placer, Regional Finalist, and 2x League Finalist. Recognized as one of Colorado’s Top Senior Wrestlers, he also earned the opportunity to compete in the prestigious 70th Colorado High School Coaches Association All-State Games. A 3-year varsity starter and 2-year team captain, Judah has consistently led by example on and off the mat.

We’re excited to add Judah’s leadership, toughness, and competitive spirit to the Blue & Gold. Welcome to the Viking family, Judah!

We’re excited to welcome George Tate from Gaithersburg, Maryland to the Augustana Wrestling family! George brings an outstanding résumé to the Blue & Gold as the 2026 State Champion and a 3x state placer. He is also a 3x National Prep qualifier, WCAC Champion, 4x WCAC placer, 3x WCAC finalist, and compiled an impressive 142-39 career record. On the freestyle side, George is a 3x Greco-Roman State Champion and 3x Freestyle State Champion, proving himself across every style of wrestling.

Off the mat, George spent three years as a Sports Medicine student intern, demonstrating the same commitment to learning and serving others that he brings to competition. We’re excited to add George’s championship pedigree, experience, and work ethic to the Blue & Gold.

We’re excited to welcome Celso Cabrera from Mundelein, Illinois to the Augustana Wrestling family! Celso earned a 3rd-place finish at regionals and qualified for the IHSA Sectional Tournament during his high school career. He was also recognized as an NSC All-Academic student twice and earned NSC Honorable Mention, demonstrating his commitment to success both on the mat and in the classroom.

We’re excited to welcome Gavin Slack from Carterville, Illinois to the Augustana Wrestling family! Gavin has put together an impressive high school career as a 2x IHSA Sectional Qualifier, Illinois All-South 150 Wrestler of the Year, 2x All-Conference and 2x All-County selection. A 2x team captain, Gavin has consistently led by example while earning the IHSA Academic Excellence Award for his success in the classroom.

We’re excited to welcome Connor Eckdhal from Monroe, Wisconsin to the Augustana Wrestling family! Connor has excelled both on the mat and in the classroom throughout his high school career. A Conference Champion, 4x varsity letter winner, 2x team captain, and 2x Most Dedicated Wrestler, he has consistently led by example. His commitment to excellence also earned him 2x Scholar All-American honors, Character & Leadership All-American recognition, and selection as a WIAA Scholar Athlete Finalist.

Off the mat, Connor is a member of the National Honor Society, has maintained a Distinguished Honor Roll (4.0+ GPA), and has proven that success comes from dedication in every aspect of life. We’re excited to add Connor’s leadership, character, and work ethic to the Blue & Gold.
