Another history maker. Another Viking. ⚔️

We’re excited to welcome Charlize-Mccharisma Laban from St. Paul, Minnesota to the Augustana Wrestling family! Charlize put together a historic high school career as the 2026 Harding Wrestler of the Year, becoming the highest state placer in school history and finishing among the program’s top three all-time female wins leaders. She is a 2026 MN/USA Freestyle & Greco State Champion, MN Section Champion and State Entrant, 2x All-Conference selection, and competed for the MN/USA National Team.

Her accomplishments extend well beyond the mat. Charlize is an Athena Award recipient, National Honor Society member, 4x A Honor Roll student, Academic All-Section honoree, Orchestra Honors member, and a recipient of the Girl Scouts Curiosity Changemaker Award.

Charlize has already proven she can make history, and we can’t wait to see what she does next in the Blue & Gold.

🤘 WELCOME TO AUGIE, SADIE! 🟡🔵

Wrestling runs in the family.

Orion native Sadie Hessler joins Augustana Wrestling as our team manager—and she comes to us with a lifetime around the sport.

The daughter of Orion High School’s head wrestling coach and niece of Augustana All-American Nick Hessler, Sadie grew up in a wrestling family. She knows the sport. She knows the people. She knows wrestling.

Sadie will also continue her own athletic career at Augustana as a member of the Viking Track & Field team! ⚔️

We’re excited to have her joining our family and helping us continue to build something special at Augie.

Another competitor. Another Viking.

We’re excited to welcome Norah Stoodley from Batavia, Illinois to the Augustana Wrestling family! A four-year varsity starter, Norah built an impressive career that included 78 wins, a DuKane Conference Championship, a Sectional qualification, and All-Conference honors all four years. She was also recognized as her team’s Most Improved Wrestler and earned Academic All-Conference recognition every season.

Off the mat, Norah has excelled in the classroom with a 4.1167 GPA while being a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. We’re excited to add Norah’s consistency, leadership, and commitment to excellence to the Blue & Gold.

Another winner. Another Viking.

We’re excited to welcome Daniela Santander to the Augustana Wrestling family! Daniela put together an outstanding high school career, earning 2 conference titles, a regional championship, and multiple state-level accomplishments in both folkstyle and freestyle. She was an IWCOA State Champion, Greco-Roman state champion, freestyle state champion, 2x Fargo qualifier, top-8 state finisher, and first alternate at state, while also representing Team Illinois and competing in the Illinois/Indiana All-Star Classic Duals. A 2x team MVP and team captain, Daniela brings proven leadership and high-level experience to the Blue & Gold.

Off the mat, she has excelled in the classroom and across multiple activities, carrying a 3.8 weighted GPA while earning recognition for academics, biliteracy, and leadership. We’re fired up to add Daniela’s toughness, versatility, and competitive drive to our program. Welcome to the family, Daniela!

Another student-athlete. Another Viking.

We’re excited to welcome Akira Terlaje from El Puerto de Santa María, Spain to the Augustana Wrestling family!

Akira brings leadership, consistency, and success both on and off the mat. A team captain as a junior and senior, she is a 2x DoDEA European Championships placer, finishing 2nd at 110 pounds as a junior and 3rd at 105 pounds as a senior. She finished her final two seasons with a combined 41-6 record and built a résumé that reflects excellence in every area.

In the classroom and in her school community, Akira has been just as impressive — serving as National Honor Society Treasurer and Senior Class Treasurer, while also being an AP student, AVID student, Red Cross volunteer, and participating in hospital shadowing through her Career Practicum. She graduates with honors and a 3.5 GPA.

We can’t wait to see the impact Akira will make in the Blue & Gold. Welcome to the family, Akira!
