Yesterdayโs Houston ID Camp tested everyone!
Record-breaking heat. ๐ก๏ธ
400 lbs of ice. ๐ง
7,680 ounces of water.๐ง
Even with all of that, several athletes began showing signs of overheatingโsomething that often starts long before you step onto the field.
The biggest lesson? Hydration and nutrition donโt begin at check-in. They begin days before the event.
A huge thank you to AJ Martin and the team at Peak Performance Recovery for not only educating our athletes, but for making the critical decision to stop play and implement a mandatory cool-down break. That decision put our athlete and coaches safety first and helped prevent what could have become a dangerous situation.
This is exactly why Peak Performance Recovery is such an important part of our team. Their expertise, preparation, and willingness to make the tough calls are invaluable.
๐ฅ In this video, AJ shares how athletes should properly prepare for games, showcases, and ID camps when competing in extreme heat.
Parents, players, and coachesโthis is information everyone needs to hear.
