Went to Maquoketa speedway last night and wow it was an interesting night… Dustin started front row outside in his heat, got a decent lead. Caution came out for debris on the track and one of the officials on the side by side came over to Dustin and told him he was getting sent to the back for “racing under caution”… turns out his ear bud cord got severed some how and couldn’t hear the Flag man over the raceceiver. Mind you when he got strapped in he could hear everything on the raceceiver. With 2 laps left Dustin made it back up to third from the back. When the intermission started they were gonna have a thing for the kids, so as I’m running to Casey’s to get Dustin’s ear buds because we thought we had time.. turned out the kid thing didn’t last very long, so by the time I got back to him we started hearing 4cyl pull onto the track. He was suppose to start 9th but because he was clearly late pulling onto the track he had to start 17th. He gave it a good run tho moving up 14 spots and finished 3rd… all in all were still trying to figure out the new car but we’re getting there!
I also want to personally say, Dustin has never intentionally “raced under caution” or drove anyone dirty on purpose. And if you’ve raced with Dustin you know damn well he doesn’t do that.
