Flock Hit Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicle and Arrest
On Sunday, February 1st, 2026, at approximately 5:40 PM, the Shelton Police Department received an alert from a Flock license plate reader regarding a stolen vehicle out of King County. The vehicle had been reported stolen the previous day, January 31st, during a residential burglary in the SeaTac area.
Shelton PD officers responded to the area of Olympic Highway South near Arcadia Avenue and located the vehicle as it was leaving a gas station on Cascade Avenue. Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful, and the driver fled eastbound on Cascade Avenue. The vehicle failed to negotiate the turn onto Mason Avenue and became disabled on a dirt bank at the intersection of Mason Avenue and Cascade Avenue.
The driver then fled on foot through nearby backyards, jumping fences and temporarily evading officers. Shelton Police officers, with assistance from deputies with the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, established a perimeter and requested a K-9 unit.
During the search, residents reported that a male had entered their home, stating police were chasing him, before fleeing again. K-9 Kylo and his handler responded and conducted a track through multiple backyards, traversing approximately four fences, ultimately locating the suspect hiding inside a boat. The subject was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was booked into the Mason County Jail on suspicion of:
• Possession of a Stolen Vehicle
• Felony Eluding
• Residential Burglary
• Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute
• Felony Warrant out of the Department of Corrections for Escape Community Custody
We would like to thank our community members for their timely calls and cooperation, our partners at the Shelton Police Department, and especially K-9 Kylo for helping bring this incident to a safe resolution. 🐕🛥️
