The first ever Mini Stock Nationals at the Fall Classic has come to a close. I don't think the Yakidega officials realized what they had coming when 72 mini stocks showed up! With that many cars we really could have used a weekend all to ourselves, but the Fall Classic was never meant to be about the mini stocks.
I was able to run two practices Friday and with a few minor changes the car wasn't too bad. The bigger challenge was learning best line around the long bumpy track. The South Sound Speedway mini stocks were definitely down on power compared to most of the other cars, but some of us were still pretty quick.
I didn't qualify very well with the car sliding all over the place. This put me pretty far back in the B main. In the B main I started working my way forward, but I ran out of laps. I finished 14th in the B main, but I think the car was probably a few spots better than that if we would have had another caution and/or a few more laps.
I would have really enjoyed running more laps, but it ended up being a pretty good weekend. We didn't break anything, got to run at the longest and fastest track I've ever been to and we got to watch some pretty good racing.
I really need to thank Tyson and Delanie for their awesome hospitality and my longtime sponsors of Pe Ell Country Market and The O'Neill Family. I also need to thank Kurt Parker and Kevin Pegg for spotting for me and Kalen Robinson for always helping out wherever needed.
