The antlerless lottery deadline is tomorrow, Sept. 10! 🔶

New this year: Hunters can apply for both an antlerless permit and a special hunt in 2026. 🦌

Antlerless permit and special deer hunt drawings now use separate preference point systems. ➕

To enter lotteries, you first need the right license to purchase a related application. For example, if you're purchasing a Firearm Deer Special Hunt application, you need to have already purchased a Deer Firearm License or have that license in your cart. 🛒

Fi****ms rules for deer season have changed! 💥

This year, deer hunters can use rifles in many areas that were previously shotgun-only. 🦌

Counties in the former shotgun zone can choose to pass an ordinance to remain shotgun-only. More information is available here: mndnr.gov/hunting/deer/shotguns.html. Check with your hunting spot's county for the most up-to-date information.

If you're new to rifle hunting deer, here's a quick review of Minnesota's requirements:

•Must be at least .220 caliber and have centerfire ignition
•Loaded only with single-projectile ammunition
•The projectile used must have a soft point or an expanding bullet type
