No experience necessary, just a desire to have fun and play alongside our team members in a fun exhibition game. Gavin Delorm was one of our players. He lost his life just over a week ago. Many of our players have special needs resulting in lifelong financial hardship on their families due to increased medical bills, support staff costs, and chronic underemployment. If you can help his family by contributing to his GoFundMe, it would allow them to focus more on grieving and less on the financial impact. On July 24, 2026, we lost a teammate of Rochester Alternative Baseball. Gavin's passion for the game was undeniable, even though he had only just joined us in May. His enthusiasm and love for baseball inspired us all, and he quickly became a cherished member of our team.

Our organization supports players who face unique challenges, and Gavin's family now faces an unimaginable loss. We ask you to consider helping them during this difficult time. We are saddened by the loss of our teammate Gavin. Though he only started playing with us this year, the love of baseball and excitement he brought with him to be playing it was infectious. He joined us in early May unfortunately after uniforms had been ordered. He didn't let that discourage him though as he took our uniform design and created his own similar customized uniform that we all thought was amazing. With permission of his family, we hope to honor Gavin at our September Inclusion Series game. His friends and family are in our prayers and our team is working together to process this loss. We spoke about what happened as a team on Sunday and some of our players came with balloons, cards, and even a hand made plaque to represent Gavin at every practice and game. He will be missed.

Inclusion Series Game - Rochester West is in the books and it was a great time. I'll do a full game write up soon but the gray/neutrals team edged the white/colors team 15-13. Thank you to RDUA for providing umpires, Greece Central Schools for letting us use the beautiful Athena varsity field, Rochester Group for providing both last year's gray uniforms and this year's white uniforms you see in the picture, our Grand Slam sponsor Midland, and our champion sponsors Advantage Federal Credit Union, Dewey's Garage c/o owner Eric Easlick, Summit View Auto, Batavia Downs, Dominique Cerqua Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, Fox Pest Control, and WYSL 1040am/92.1fm/95.5fm, and finally Applied Audio & Theatre Supply for providing us the discounted rental on the sound system. We are hoping to get at least 3 more community players for Inclusion Series Game - Rochester West on Saturday 1pm at Greece Athena High School Varsity field. Skill level...or if you've even played baseball before doesn't matter...it is all about having fun playing baseball alongside our players. We form 2 teams each with a mix of team and community players and have a great time. Rochester District Umpire Association brings professional umpires and we play with major league rules except it is only 7 innings, we have a 5 run limit, and we play with the official baseball of the Japanese Rubber Baseball league instead of a hardball (same size, you can still hit it far, but a bit safer). First come first in at this point as we'll take up to 7 more players before the teams are full.

P.S. If you don't believe me you'll enjoy it, ask the 3 people who had no connection to the team before playing in the game and afterward joined our board of directors because they wanted to be involved.
