SPRING LEAGUE - FINAL WEEK

Week 5 is officially in the books, which means we’ve somehow made it to the FINAL week of the Spring League. Some of you are chasing the title, some are chasing personal redemption, and some are just trying not to card a 12 on a par 3 before summer officially starts. Respect to all paths.

The updated leaderboard is attached below, and heading into Week 6 there’s still plenty to play

For our final course of the league, we’ll be taking on:
Chicago Highlands Club – Back 9

This is not your local muni where you can slap driver everywhere and pray to the golf gods. Chicago Highlands is a private Arthur Hills-designed course located in Westchester, Illinois, known for its links-style layout, elevation changes, and fast greens. The course opened in 2010 and was built on over 270 acres, which is massive for the Chicago area. It also features sweeping views of the Chicago skyline and over 80 feet of elevation change throughout the property.

A few fun facts about Chicago Highlands:

Designed by renowned golf course architect Arthur Hills
Plays up to nearly 7,500 yards from the tips
Known for challenging back-nine holes and slick greens
Hole 9 at Chicago Highlands was once recognized by Golf Digest as “Golf Hole of the Year”
The course is often described as having a modern Scottish-links feel right in the Chicago suburbs
The back 9 especially can get nasty if you miss fairways, so this week’s strategy may involve slightly fewer “hero shots” and slightly more “please just stay in bounds.”

Good luck to everyone in the final week. Finish strong, talk some trash, and remember: every league has at least one guy who suddenly shoots 10 strokes better in the final week like he got recruited into the PGA overnight.

See you all in Week 6.

🚨SPRING LEAGUE WEEK 4🚨

Week 3 is officially complete, and with only THREE weeks left, the standings are starting to get real spicy. Some players are making a serious push toward the top.

As always, the updated leaderboard is included below. Every stroke matters now, so if you’ve been telling yourself “I’ll lock in next week,” congratulations — next week is here.

⛳ WEEK 4 COURSE: Royal Fox Country Club (Back 9) – St. Charles, IL

This week we’re heading to Royal Fox Country Club’s back 9, and this place has some serious country club energy. Tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, water hazards, and just enough danger to make you question every “safe” decision you make.

A few fun facts about Royal Fox:

• Royal Fox was designed by Richard P. Nugent, a well-known golf course architect who created layouts all over the Midwest. The course opened in 1989 and quickly became one of the more respected private clubs in the western suburbs.

• The course is known for its rolling terrain and mature trees, giving it a much more “traditional country club” feel than your average wide-open muni. In simulator terms: you may finally have to stop aiming directly at the woods and hoping for forgiveness.

• The back 9 especially features tighter approach shots and several risk/reward holes where one aggressive shot can either make you look like a genius… or have you muttering “that simulator is broken” under your breath.

• Royal Fox has hosted numerous local competitive events over the years and is known for keeping greens fast and challenging. So naturally, everyone will still somehow leave every birdie putt 9 feet short.

We’re officially entering the stretch run of the Spring League. Stay aggressive, keep the doubles off the card, and remember:

Golf is a mental game.
Which explains why most of us are mentally exhausted by Hole 3.

🚨 SPRING LEAGUE WEEK 2 RECAP/WEEK 3 COURSE🚨

Week 2 is officially in the books, and the leaderboard is already starting to tighten up.

The competition has been awesome so far, and with only 4 weeks left, every stroke matters. Be sure to check out the updated leaderboard below to see where you stand heading into Week 3.

⛳ WEEK 3 COURSE: Baker Park Golf Course (Back 9) – Kankakee, IL

This week we’re heading to Baker Park’s back 9 — a course that’s pretty straightforward overall, but don’t let that fool you. This is the kind of layout where you start feeling confident… then suddenly card a triple because your “safe shot” bounced off a tree and into another zip code.

A few fun facts about Baker Park:

• Baker Park is a public 18-hole course that dates back to the early 1900s, making it one of the older courses in Illinois.

• The front 9 is known for being flat and forgiving, while the back 9 adds more rolling hills and elevation changes to keep things interesting.

• The back 9 is considered the more challenging side of the course, but compared to some of the chaos we’ve already played this season, this one is a little more “grip it and rip it.” Which means absolutely nobody has an excuse when they chunk a wedge 14 yards.

• Baker Park has long been a local league and tournament favorite with a classic Midwest public-course feel — simple, playable, and sneaky fun.

Good luck this week everybody. Keep the scores low and remember:

A snowman on one hole builds character.
Probably.

🚨SPRING LEAGUE WEEK 2🚨

Alright golfers,

Week 1 is officially in the books, scores are live, and we’ve got ourselves a leaderboard. No pressure…

This Week’s Course:
Blackberry Oaks (Back 9) – Bristol, Illinois

This place has some personality. A few things to know before you go out there and embarrass yourself:

Built on former farmland, so yeah… it looks forgiving. It’s not. That rough will humble you real quick.
The back 9 tightens up compared to the front—tree-lined fairways that basically say, “hit it straight or go home.”
Water comes into play more than you’d like, especially when you’re already having a bad hole. It’s like the course knows.
Known for smooth, fast greens—so if you’ve been blasting putts 10 feet past the hole, congrats, you’re about to do that again but worse.
Course Flyover:

Take a couple minutes to watch it—it might save you a stroke or two. Or you’ll forget everything immediately and swing driver into a tree. Both are realistic outcomes.

Get your rounds in, keep things competitive, and remember—there’s still a lot of golf left. Nobody wins the league in Week 1.

🚨SPRING LEAGUE WEEK 1 STARTS TODAY!🚨

It’s officially go-time—Week 1 of our 6-week Spring League at Ordinary Golfer is here. Welcome to all our returning teams and a big welcome to the new crews jumping in this season.

This week’s course is Shady Oaks (Front 9) out in Sublette, IL.

Shady Oaks is a fun but sneaky little course. Don’t let the name fool you—it’s not just a relaxing stroll. You’ll deal with tight fairways, some tricky tree placement, and greens that can humble you real quick if you get careless. It rewards accuracy more than power… which is bad news for about 90% of us. Play smart, keep it in play, and try not to turn one bad hole into a full emotional spiral.
