❄️It’s Novemburr! Are you prepared to hunt in cold weather? ❄️
Some of the most common and dangerous risks to hunters result from exposure to extreme weather.
Dressing appropriately for cold weather and avoiding dangerous weather conditions is key. Keep your cheeks, ears, fingers, and toes warm and dry. Wear layers and ensure your clothes remain dry. Dress in moisture-wicking base layers, insulating mid-layers, and waterproof outer layers to trap warmth and block wind.
Always have a hunting plan and share it with someone. Let them know where you’ll be and when you expect to return.
Here’s some additional tips to consider while hunting:
🔸Try to avoid hunting or traveling alone.
🔸Take plenty of food and water.
🔸Take a map and a compass and orient yourself before leaving your camp/vehicle.
🔸Always bring fire-starting equipment and a foil blanket.
If you get lost, commit to spending the night where you are. Remaining in one spot increases the chances of being found in a few days. Focus on shelter, fire, and signal. Then, focus on food and water.
