Welcome April! I’m so glad we made it through the dark and cold months!! I’m spending time in my garden and bringing growth for my personal as well as teacher practice. I’ve got some good opportunities in the community to connect with you and I’m looking to meet you where you’re at. April flows/class plans will be full of upward moving energy to align with the season. Let’s grow something new together. 🌱

Studio intention of the week: remember how far you’ve come.

I found during a period of transition for my current life. I was dating my (now) husband, exploring a new city, and finding out if it was worth it to leave my hometown. I never thought I’d find a studio worth leaving my yoga career behind in Lynchburg ( I still miss you guys 🥺). I started as a client at HH, just going to classes to maintain my own practice. Also, I never thought I’d be hired at the cool kid studio.

The Universe found a spot for me both with a new home and love to grow roots here in the star city. There was a hole in the studio after dear Jim passed. I waited a bit before applying. Then my wildest dreams came true and hired me to hold space for this lovely community.

I’m forever grateful and blessed to know so many people in this little pink building. I’ve made connections I’ll cherish forever. I appreciate every one of you who made my dream of teaching yoga come true. Thanks for showing up and allowing me to be your guide!!

This is who you are trusting to hold space for you while you take off your emotional armor.

This is the inner child leading you through your practice and cheering you on.

This is the girl who will tell you over and over again to keep your chin tucked when you come out of a forward fold.

This is your prop waitress who teaches you how to use them.

This is who is giving you options for modifications to make asana accessible.

This is who is responsible for terribly cheesy jokes and perfectly timed curse words.

February marks the last full month of winter while Earth takes it’s rest. I don’t know about you, but I really like to sink into these cold days/nights to recharge. I want to honor the season as we move on the mat this month! Let’s find a good balance of slower flows, more twists, and longer holds. Dare we say….even a little restorative sprinkled in?! I’ve been quiet…

It’s so outside of my character.
I’ve been scared, but that’s just part of my nature.

I’m livid with the people who voted for this.
I feel helpless and loosing faith in the humanity we once had for one another.

The systems in place are failing our greater good and killing people.
The lack of dignity in these authoritarian monsters is so visible.

I can’t stay silent.
I’m not ready to give up.

The path for resistance is unclear for me.
Which way do I choose to fight back?

I think my answer is love and joy.
My place here is to remind you to smile in the face of evil.

I can’t guarantee safety.
I can cultivate spaces where voices are heard and protected.

I will honor those strong women who came before me.
I’ll find my footing on this journey.

Let’s continue building community and take care of one another.
